I mean, not to volunteer you for anything, but I bet you could make some side cash by building these and selling them hahahaha....... And it could be for any vehicle, not just jeeps.
Put me on the list....
If a write up with nice pictures and dimensions is easier, that works too.

Not trying to **** in anyone’s Cheerios, but the active louver idea is “neat”, but will be problematic over time. Those louvers are not meant for road grime/salt. In general, adding moving parts is a bad thing.
I mean, it’s a neat idea. But they will not last. I have worked in the industrial boiler business for 24 years. Seen countless power louver systems that hang on the inside of buildings fail, and they don’t see road travel/grime/salt.

Good point. Stupid simple is most good. But the one on the drivers side has been on for a year and I live in eastern PA. So I see my share of salt. Has shown no signs of wear. The blades are .050" extruded aluminum a little thicker and tougher than the ones you would see in a compresser room.I know the kind you are talking about.

If you keep moving parts clean and maintained, there should be no reason for failure.

Well that would be an awesome gesture. I wouldn't want you to go out of your way just for that reason. Especially if its going to cost you time and $. maybe we can work a trade or something at least.

Be glade to make you a set. I am in Pa and still under lock down orders but as soon as the tyrannical government gets out of our lives we can go back to work I will make you a set. They have 12 volt heaters built in to open with a toggle switch if you like. They take about 60 seconds to open. and longer to cool and close. Not like they are motorized. The wax actuator has to warm up and liquify and then pushes them open. My email address is pkeenan@kmdampers.com If you want to drop me an email I will get them to you.

You got the tyrannical part right. I get they want to protect us, but not like this. This is blown way out of proportion. You don't shut down a countries economy for something like this. Or WORLD economy for that matter.... You prevent the spread in other ways. Like PPE. You can't tell me 3M and other companies can't make good masks fast enough for the whole country.

I would PM him..... It may have a better chance of getting to him via email. He may see this post in his email and just overlook it. If its a PM, he'd be more likely to read it. Just a thought.

Thanks, I'll try that. I like the concept. If he isn't making them anymore, I guess I'll try a motorized setup.

Yeah he hasn't been on here in a few months. I haven't installed the vents in mine yet, but I'm looking forward to it. I am a little weirded out about cutting into a perfectly good hood with 3 year old paint, but I know it'll get done correctly with no issues or future rust when I get done.
I'll post pics once its done, and see if I can get some video of them moving on their own....
Still deciding on a paint color. The vents are made of aluminum. Best bet is probably flat black, but I may think of something cool to do so its more personalized and original.
I wonder if I can hydro dip them and it will last, or if it will fade in the sun...
