Default Hood vents

Okay, been thinking of adding hood vents to my '98 XJ. It's warm under the hood in Houston, TX to say the least. The vents I see offered for XJ's just doesn't appeal to me. I was thinking hood vents off a late 60's muscle car or louvres. Has anybody done this? Does it help?

I've seen people use your common wall vent from a home improvement store. Anything will work. Just depends on your fab skills.

And I'm sure it'll help about 5-10 degrees, depending how big the vents are

Thanks for the input. I'll look for those Trans Am ones to start with. Too bad you can't place a sample of each on your hood before you buy!
