1. Are your rear fenders chopped?
2. What size tires/wheel offset are you running?
3. What brand lift is it?
4. Are you still running a stock rear sway bar?
5. How much rubbing are you getting?

Pictures help...

great that you memorized the 5 basic questions of almost every thread beginner but in this one instance it doesn't apply.

MntsRCool... flex whatever set up you have till you rub. find distance from current bumpstops to 1/4" before rubbing. install spacers. Hockey pucks work great at 1" per puck and $2 a piece, longer blots a must obviously.

It is absolutely relevant when it comes to bump stopping. I'm not sure what your rig is setup like but I know for a fact on all my jeeps that all of those questions matter to the fact of how much bump stop you need. Maybe he is planning for rubbing and hasn't had an issue yet. Perhaps just a simple fender chop (basically free) will eliminate any rubbing he may have. I have chopped fenders and don't even run rear bump stops because my rear doesn't flex enough to rub in the first place. But I have an extra piece of 3/8's box under stock bump stops on my MJ so that it won't rub.

Take off the stock bump stop, use 2x2" square tube cut to length, stack it to the desired height, drill holes, get longer bolts, mount stock bumpstops through square tube to orginal mounting location with longer bolts.

Done.

he didn't generically ask how to stop the rubbing (in which case i would have asked the same questions you did) , he asked specifically how to stop rubbing using bumpstops, and do it cheaply.

Hockey pucks in the rear don't apply either...

With 4.5" lift, I tried the 2" spacer for the rear bump stop and was still short about 1.5". Will add these http://www.dirtboundoffroad.com/susp...p-cherokee-xj/

Actually, he didn't say a word about rubbing. All he said was that he needs ideas for cheap bumpstops in the rear after lifting.

This is the cheapest way I know of for a DIY longer bumpstop in the rear.

Thankyou!!!!
all i needed 2 know was cheap way to bumpstop because with 33s at 4.5inches of lift and trimmed fenders i still rub in the rear pretty badly i think its because of my ad a leaf, leaf pack is super duper flexy and the pack is flat

and FYI

4.5inch lift
33x12.50 tires
15x10 idk back spacing but they stick out ALOt!!
fenders are cut and folded

I run 33's on 10 in wide wheels,3 in. lift, cut fenders & mine is just about right with the spacer in there.

This is what I used at 3" with 33's. Scrap 1/4" plate and bump stops off a Chevy D44. If I had to do it again, I would of welded a stanchion on them. Ah well, they still work.

My factory bumpstop bolts broke off flush when trying to install new bumpstops (all 4 of them). So I need to do something like this. I'll make a plate up to weld onto the U-bolt plate - my question is, should the U-bolt plate be taken off to weld the bumpstop plate or would it be okay to just weld it while in place?
