So my friend said it'd be a bad choice to remove leafs. Will the shackle relocators and new shackles add 1.5'' to my already 6.5'' lift? Or is it losing some height due to the relocation, but adds an additional 1.5''? I'm thinking of just buying the relocators and shackles and putting them on my leafs.

Relocaters will GAIN lift...They move the shackle down a tad. Your going to end up gaining MINIMUM around an inch with a relocation bracket and shackle.

OK, that's what I figured. A description of them threw me off a bit. Is it worth it? Some of my buddies are at 7'' overall and 6.5 front/7'' rear. I have 6.5 coils with like a 1.5'' spacer up front and I don't think it's that uneven, if anythingthe rear is a bit higher. Probably because the leafs are still new..

Very unstable. My end goals are around 5.5" and 35s or 34s. I say sell or trade you new leafs for 4.5" leafs then buy relocaters and a little boomerang shackle.

I'll break these in and see how that goes. If it's still rough and doesn't give me as much flex as I'd like, I'll go back to my old leafs with probably 2'' shackles and a relocator. Depending on the size of the leafs.

So I have a front driveshaft off a buddies XJ on my rear for the hack n tap. It's out of balance since his weight fell off and he tried welding it back on. It's causing major leakage and messed up the HnT seal, which IRO replaced free of charge (awesome!). I'm going to pickup another front driveshaft off an XJ, but I'm wondering if this angle is OK. I kept my 1'' tcase drop on since it helped the angle, and I'm considering getting shims.

That driveshaft is too short.

You need to post the pic with the pinion visible in it.

Hey guys, kinda having trouble deciding between some stuff..

I was planning on saving up for long arms and getting them some time in the early new year. Only issue is, my ride is extremely rough on and off the road. For the rear, I'm either going to get add a 1'' shackle and/or a shackle relocator. Whichever gives me the best ride quality/flex with the 6.5 pack. And if that doesn't help, I'll use the shackle and relocator on my old pack or something, but I think it'll be fine.

For the front, my CA angles are a little steep, I think I'd benefit from a control arm drop. If I go that route, I'd just put long arms off for a while and use the saved money towards maintenance or an internal cage. Assuming I wouldn't be satisfied with the drop brackets. This is my DD, I push it hard when I'm on the trails, but it's on pavement more than anything and my ride right now is insanely stiff and rough.

Are my current LCAs too long for brackets? Will they not work? If I can find a set of adjustable LCAs, should I get those with the brackets?

for the rear id look for like a 3.5-4.5 inch leaf pack, extended shackle and relocators. a 6.5 pack can only ride/flex so good. a smaller lift pack would ride and flex much better. and then you wont be sitting at 15 inches of lift haha for the front i would just save for long arms if you can put up with the ride for a while. why waste the money on drop brackets if you plan to go to long arms? plus youll loose ground clearence

While that's an option, I'd like to see if I can use my current leafs at all. Just since it'll be a little tough to sell these, and it'd be a bit of a waste IMO. Can I remove a leaf or two, or is that not recommended? And one of my buddy's is running drop brackets and he said he doesn't have any issue with ground clearance, and I've seen a few other posts saying the same thing. If I can achieve a smooth ride for a cheaper than long arms, and if they preform slightly under long arms, I'd be fine with drop brackets for a while. Then I can put the $650 into my engine or an internal cage or something. My ride is just realllly rough both on and off the ride.

Unfortunately I had already purchased my leafs when I originally made this thread.

Edit:

If the shackle relocation won't help on my 6.5 leafs, then I guess I can just go back to my old leafs, which I'm unsure on the size, but I can look into the relocation kit to add 1.5'', then maybe a shackle or make up for any loss, since I don't know the size. I can keep the 6.5 leafs as backup or maybe a trail rig if I ever acquire another XJ lol.
