Default 6.5'' Lift Questions

I'm going up to 6.5'' soon and I have a few questions.

I picked up a pair of 6.5'' Rusty's leaf packs for $200 from a friend who put less than 2k on them. I was wondering what my ride quality will be like. I don't intend on going higher, but I got a good deal on them so that's why I didn't go with 4.5'' + shackles. Would shackle relocation brackets work at all? And could I use them without going up 1.5''?

My other question is, can I use control arm drop brackets temporarily without any issue. I have fixed length short arms, and I want to go to long arms in the near, near future. But I can't wait to put this lift on to afford them, since it's going to be snowing soon, and I don't want to buy adjustable shorts if I'm replacing them. I can save money if I go with drop brackets for the time being. Do my arms need to be a certain length for the brackets to work at 6.5?

I might also have a few more questions later on, but I'll post them here.

Cheers

I have rustys 6.5" leafs. With my long arms and bilsteins it rides excellent. I really couldn't be happier with how it rides and drives. I'd say it is as good as stock, but its been a while since I've driven a stock xj.

I just am using 1.5" shackles. My shackle angle is about perfect. My ride height is still 6-6.5 because I got the leafs used and they were good and broke in. Flexes great too.

its not going to ride real well, but the drop brackets should give you the 2" you're looking for on the arms. what about the upper arms?

Great, thanks!

I'll put up with the ride quality, since it'll be temporary. I was under the impression the brackets drop the upper and lowers. Am I mistaken?

And that price is new. I might look for used. And that's still a decent price. I was going to be paying $170/per for upper and lowers, so $200 is still OK.

Ive got the RC 6.5" short arm lift on mine, and its a pretty rough ride. You get used to it, but its no where like stock thats for sure.

That's good to know. It won't be permanent. Just saves me money and gets my lift on before long arms. If it was summer time, I'd wait until I buy IRO's arms. But unfortunately that's not the case.

Got both of them there. Should be good to go.

You should be fine with the those control arms, and the drop brackets, by the way, most people say drop brackets give you better ride quality than long arms

Oh yeah? What about flex? Is it anywhere near comparable?

I measured my LCA today, just to know the length, and it appears to be 17". I put one end on the bottom of the eye, then the same on the other side, so where it mounts to. Is that accurate? And if so, will the drop bracket not work for my 6.5" lift?

Any ideas? This is a bit of a curve ball in my buying parts, since if I don't buy it, and I go to lift it, and it turns out I needed it, it'll be a bit disappointing, haha.

no, mst people do not say that. some try to convince themselves that that's the case, but it's not very accurate.

Improved ride quality over short arms at a severe angle? Yes, no argument.

Better ride than a quality long arm kit? No.
