I think because I post at a higher level than you. It may also be because I had your favorite little moderator kicked out of being a moderator. You've had an issue with me since the beginning. Probably because I didn't lavish praise on you. I've mentioned many times if you hate my posts so much, why not just put me on your ignore list.

I suspect the bane of any modern manufacturer is savvy DIY buyer. You know, the type of guy or girl who likes to swap their own pads, change their own filters and replace their own bulbs. To combat these service revenue sucking know-it-alls, manufacturers are engineering unnecessary complexity into every aspect of the simplest tasks. In a few generations you won't be able to remove the bolt on the oil pan. Who am I kidding? In a few generations it won't have an oil pan. It won't have oil.
Ferrari started producing the 250GT California in '61 and it was magical. There was nothing in that car that didn't contribute to it's performance. Driving one was a visceral experience, there were no electro-hydraulic pumps to raise and lower the top, the hood was held up by a stick, the flat 12 wasn't managed by an ECU, it was managed by your right foot. The new California is nothing like it's predecessor. Nothing. It's full of computers and coddling electronics, the metal top goes up and down at the touch of a button, it weighs twice as much as it's 1961 namesake. There are crumple zones and airbags and pyro-tensioning seatbelts, roll-over hoops deployed by explosives and costs twice the adjusted value of the original... it's still a great car but for completely different reasons than the original.
So cut the KL some slack. It's face is a little controversial but it's nothing like an Aztec. And it does a lot of things right, at least on paper and the YouTube videos I've managed to find of the Trailhawk. The XJ has a better approach angle but the Trailhawk has the same ground clearance as the XJ Upcountry and a better departure angle than any XJ. And that 9-speed auto will give you 56:1 crawl ratio (double that of the XJ) and a locking diff. Whining about the reliability of 1st gen endeavors is fine but as has been demonstrated many times in this thread, it's the same with virtually all 1st gen products. I've not heard a single complaint that could be substantiated with actual evidence. Well, except for those links to the lame Chrysler marketing and promotion.

Sorry guys, the last thing I want to do is get between two mutual "distaste" groups.
Don't get me wrong, I have loved all three of my XJs.
Probably not as much as my three Wagoneers/J10s.
My favorite was the '96 318 cubic inch GC.
I know the KL will have skunks hiding in the frame somewhere but....
Who designed the "sealed " cooling system of the XJ with the plastic bottle "fill" bottle that had to be replaced every two or three years because it got brittle and split or you gave the cap the last ¼ turn to snug it down and stripped the cap...I had to send off for a specially made metal "bottle" to keep "helpful" people from stranding my daughter in the middle of an Austin summer with a Stanley Steamer by the side of the road and "promising" her that the head gasket would take $1200-1500 to fix.
Who mounted the oil filter where you always spilled oil down the side of the block no matter how careful you try to be.. (Shouldn't a oil change be a DIY job)
Who designed a water jacket so impossible to "burp" the air out of you had to drill a small hole in the top of the thermostat without with you had NO change of doing a full "burp" within the next two-three weeks after an antifreeze change. In fact I ended up reading one of the forums so close that I found the 1992 thermostat housing would fit on my 89 but didn't need a sensor hole needed for that model, so I modified my "new thermostat housing with a hole in the top of the thermostat and a old style turn-**** in the extra hole "sensor port" to accomplish the job in about two minutes flat.
By the way, with the exceptions of some ladies, who have a hand small enough to cram up under the passenger side front of the radiator area to grab and with the hand strength to twist a plastic turn-**** to drain and close the cooling system.
Who has an original intact cooling shroud around their fan that hasn't been repurchase, and replaced after they had removed the whole front end of the XJ to put it in place.
Not dissing the XJ. but be honest guys, those things sux!
JUST LIKE THINGS THE KL WILL HAVE!
At least have the decency to wait till you smell smoke before yelling "FIRE!"

Besides, only a fraction of XJ's had the closed cooling system. What makes you think the KL is going to be some godsend vehicle that won't have any quirks or annoyances? How the hell are you going to change your headlight fluid in one of those stupid things?

Kettle.....meet pot.
We get it, you don't like the KL because it is too complicated for you. Fine, but knocking it without FACTS means you don't understand how to justify or prove your point.
The moderators don't mind, so why should members.

The most ridiculous analogies exist in this thread.
I didn't read it all but how does a thread about the KL have posts comparing vintage Ferraris to new ones and surgeons to crumple zones lol.

Second I don't even know who the **** you are. This is the first time I have ever seen you post.
Third you post at a higher level than me? Woah mr **** don't stink. Your posts pissed me off because I am an ase mechanic who does not work at a dealership. So the fact that you say mechanics in shops can't work on these perfect new jeeps like you say they are pisses me right off.
Quit being so ****ing arrogant.

First off what? My favourite lil moderator? I am a mod. You never had a mod friend of mine removed.

Oh...I think it was PurpleGroceryGetter or something like that, that might jog the memory. She was kicked off being a mod after I and other complained about here arbitrary banning and foul language in private posts.
