So I'm in the process of redoing my interior on my 89. One thing on the to do list is recover the headliner. There isn't a good fabric store near where I live so this weekend I meant to take full advantage of driving to Seattle to visit family for Easter and make a visit to the fabric store.

However, I forgot to measure the headliner in the xj I have not the foggiest idea of the measurements. The fabic I'm looking at I'm not sure if it'll be wide enough and I'd hate to buy double the length if I dont need to. I also need to know how long the overhead console is.

Does anybody know the dimensions? Or could someone please do me a huge favor and go out and measure their xj? It would be greatly appreciated!!

Mainly just worried about the width

 

When i did mine i got a piece that was 54" wide and 90" long.

The headliner material from most fabric stores only come in a 54" width.

I would just guestimate on the high side. If you're that broke then headliner is the least of your worries.

Yea, I saw your write up when I did a search and noticed you mentioned the yardage, but didn't mention the width.

It's not a matter of being broke.

For one I hate wasting money, and for 2 I don't like being wastefull.

If I would have guessed I would have said the fabric was two narrow, meaning I would have had to buy double the length inorder to put a seam down the middle. But since it turns out I is wide enough I would have bought 2 times to much, essentially wasting money cause I would have no use for the extra material since I have no intentions of recovering anything else in the xj with the same pattern.

 

91 Jeep Cherokee XJ. Measuring my inner roof the best I can, it seems like approximately 52 X 82, but that is probably a little high since I was measuring alone and trying to add for the 'curve' with room to spare. Noticed on Amazon they have a "60 x 90" so I went with that size.

 

I used some of the extra material and covered the roof speaker enclosure to match.
