Just a question about the '98 xj, so here goes:
1. My headliner is falling/sagging down in a couple of places and I was wondering how I should go about fixing it, NO I do not want to put camo headliner, I want to keep it the same and just keep it original.

Best bet is to go to Crafting store and look in the headliner section (Michaels in my area has some good choices not camo) basically remove headliner and remove the dried up adheisve use a wire brush to remove the adhesive. Then get some headliner adhesive from autozone I prefer 3M for that. and apply the new headliner. Remember to make holes for the dome lightd and what not.
I recommend actually replacing it then trying to make it not sag.

x2 on that, don't try to re-glue the fabric, because the foam backing has deteriorated and separated from the fabric. Do it right, pull the headliner out, go to a fabric or craft store, buy actual foam-backed headliner fabric, clean off the old mess, spray the fabric and the headliner with 3M adhesive, wait about 30 seconds, and lay the fabric on. Use your hands and/or a soft brush to work out the wrinkles and bubbles, trim around the edges and the dome light holes, put the headliner back in, and enjoy. I spent a day on mine, couldn't find a good matching tan, so I went with black. It turned out great, but this wasn't my first rodeo. My mom does custom upholstery, so I've helped with a few. It's actually easier than you might think, just take your time.

I re-did mine back to the original condition, and color. Found a site on the Internet. (there's a few sites, with factory replacements) Cost about $50.00. Had enough material to do the headliner, and the overhead console. Looks like the factory original. Very happy, with just an afternoon of easy work.

A bit of a trick I learned from an auto upholsterer. Get some fiberglass resin and brush it on the backboard, let dry then apply another coat. Stiffens up the backerboard, especially if you have the older "fiber" board. I did that on my 91 and it made a huge difference before I put on my headliner material.
