in NY u don't have the right to shoot anyone. Even burglars in your own home. Unless they threaten your life. And u ll have to prove that in the courts

Exactly. People really need to stop making ignorant blanket statements

He never even mentioned guns or shooting..... So I fail to see the point of these posts, since he IS accurate.... Everyone has the right to defend themselves.... If you choose guns, then FEDERALLY, you have the right to use your gun to defend yourself.... Just maybe not locally.
And Nieeal..... NOBODY has the right to "shoot someone".... And the only time it would be " acceptable " Is if you're fearing for your life, or if you live in a castle doctrine state, your property. Even still, you'll be going to court to prove that what you did was just, and that you truly feared for your life/well being/property (castle doctrine).

Full stop.

That isn't true in many states.

Federally it is.... And if it's defending ourselves from the .gov, then who cares what the law is? Idk, you guys just kind of jumped down his throat pretty quick. I hate incorrect facts and blanket statements as much as the next guy. but technically, he wasn't wrong..... It just depends on what angle you're looking from.

i might not be the best at English but i know what "shall not be infringed" means. the 2nd amendment was never meant for hunting, never will be, its about protecting yourself and protecting yourself from a tyrannical government.

I agree with you, but try arguing the prefatory cause with a gun control advocate. Better yet, use that as your defense in court in a state that disagrees. I'm talking about state laws.

Ahhh, internet discussions about guns .... gotta love them!

Normally I stay out of them and just let people do/say/believe whatever they want. But there is one thing that really pisses me off.

And that's people who say something along the lines of "I don't like it when someone open carries because it makes me feel uncomfortable".

News flash, your personal comfort is not the responsibility of the people around you. If you don't like how someone else is acting, then remove yourself from the situation .... and don't whine about it.

Sorry, that's just a pet peeve of mine ... and not just about guns ... It drives me nuts how so many people these days feel entitled to "personal comforts" and expect others to accommodate them.
