There are quite a few trails around here. It just depends on how bad you want to beat up your ride. One of the ones I use a lot is the Reddington Pass road. When you are lone wolfing it Reddington does have other people on it. There is also the back side of Mt Lemmon that is well travelled.
I've done Reddington before in a JK and would definitely do it again. I just hate going solo.
The great land grab of Soldiers Pass is almost in the books. They have opted to close the trail to all but Red Rock Jeep Tours, USFS vehicles and emergency vehicles. This is the last stand, PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE send a letter of objection in. Our public lands shouldn't be restricted to those who make a profit off of it, while WE cannot access the land. My greatest fear is that this will fuel the Broken Arrow community to do the same. Stand up people.
yea just got it about 2 months ago been putting in some work on her pretty much rebuilt the cooling system tore off the fender flares and im getting ready to cut another 1.25" off the sheet metal gonna run 33's eventually and gonna be buying the RE 3.5" superflex lift and some swaybar quick disconnects but shes trail ready now did the back way to crown king like 3 weeks ago only issue was overheating which i have since fixed with a new zj fan clutch

Good morning fellow Arizonians! What do you say about us getting together in here to share Arizona stuff? We are currently spread all over the country in the other posts and I highly admire the dysfunctional Florida thread and local communication on that thread and got to thinking that since this is here... should we utilize it for our local stuff on a regular basis? Anyone in? I am going to start checking in here every morning myself. Please join me!
I would like to start the conversation in here with why a 4X4 is so important to me. My wife and I like to go find, record and try to decipher ancient Native American Pictographs and Petroglyphs. My Grandmother was a renown Archaeologist and Anthropologist so I was kind of apprenticed into this hobby as I was growing up. My wife and I have pretty much logged thousands of off-road miles in search of these particular locations to study these historic records of the indigenous who were here before us. Here are a couple examples of what we find.
This one we have deciphered as a map to the local springs and water sources in this particular area. Both of which are now extinct and no longer produce water. This fact allowed us to date this panel and when it was pecked. What's interesting about it is that it is also a deed to that water and these springs. The "rectangular" hieroglyphs are from the Mohave/Mojave Indian tribe and the signature of a person of power and royalty granted by the powers in charge at that time.
This one I call "eat at Joe's" lol There is a long theory behind why I call it that. Thing is there is only three places in the southwest that I know of where the glyph on the furthest left exists. Two are in the East Mojave Desert and the third is in only one place in Arizona. The hourglass pecking is pretty unique and why it was pecked is still a mystery.
Here is a shot of just the Hourglass pecking on this panel. What influenced this particular unique hieroglyphic? A cosmic sighting event of some sort? It shows up twice in the above panel so why was it posted twice? Using Occam's razor and what happens to be common in these three locations I have a theory if anyone is interested.

Pretty cool. I don't know anything about that stuff... but do like checking it out.
Too bad we're all so spread out though. Now my baby... I'm still getting her to a level that is as reliable as I can get it. Plus, for now anyways, she's completely stock other than sitting on 235's..and with recent rear diff service discovered that she has a factory LSD.
I just want to really feel good about the overall condition before I take her out in the middle of nowhere. lol. A lot here have setups that are not even close to stock so what trail they run is not an issue. That being said, I'd still be down for taking on ones that an OEM setup could easily handle to get to places like that and back safely.

A factory LSD? fantastic man! 235's and an LSD and you are good to go! You will be pulling others out of the ditch! But please share when you take off and land again here my friend.

I am big time into exploring new areas and getting off the beaten path. Hey RocketMouse, what part of AZ are you in? I'm in Apache Junction, east of Phoenix. Here is a pic from today along the Apache Trail.
