OK... It's cool as hell, but I think we may have a new channel happening here.

That is funny as hell. Go try to do that during a "three point turn" test at the MVD! lol

My ranching Grandmother used to make her turn arounds like that with us in the back of the truck trying to hold onto bails of straw to keep them from flying out! lol

"Welcome to Arizona!!!" lol

My favorite pic of the day (not counting the ones I took while on Canyon Lake on a boat).

Well since this is an AZ thread and not just a Cherokee thread, here're some pics from Canyon Lake today. I don't own a boat but they have a double decker boat that you can do a 1.5 hour tour of the lake for $23. Much cheaper than owning a boat. LOL. It was so awesome out there I could literally take that tour once a week and never get tired of it.

Oh man... That is pretty stuff but I need to get you up here in the north country. Have you been to the bottom of the grand canyon yet? I have an "In" here with the tribes. I can take you to places they never even mention outside of certain circles.

I got caught "sailing" up the rapids past legal "do not proceed" markers on a hobby Cat when I was 20. They arrested me in Supai and held me for just shy of 72 hours reservation time. lol

A very important thing here to note is that "Reservation time" is not the same as it is everywhere else in the the world. So I got to know quite a few important friends while I was being held for a couple of weeks.

Turns out one of the elders was good friends with my deceased Grandmother and was apparently in love with her at one time. Been good to go with these folks down there since.

Wait... WATER in Arizona?

Did you know that Arizona has more "Continuous Shoreline" than any any other state in the U.S. ? This is why a "desert" state has a "fish and game" dept rather than a "game and fish" dept.

I have only been to the Grand Canyon once, about 10 years ago, and we literally stayed for about 10 minutes (ex-wife schedule). BUMMER. I am GAME for a trip there, perhaps when it warms up. So... once to the Grand Canyon and twice to Flagstaff, other than that I have not been north of Sedona in that area, and Show Low is the furthest north I have been east of here.

OK then bother... I have some stuff to to share with you! I will take you right to the very spot where the Navajo hid the four horned sheep to prevent Kit Carson from wiping out the breed forever. My place is just across the plain from there. And Rocket will be just east of there a bit when he lands.

I already shared this with Rocket... but a group of us have been permitted to go and do an archaeological dig this spring in a very lucrative location that was hard to get approved. Honestly... more hands the better if you are interested. We will be camping out most of the time so put your "tough" shirt on if you want to come rub shoulders with "smelly" college students. lol

Sounds like a lot of fun. I have decades of experience roughing it camping so that is not a problem. Think of me as a wanna be Indiana Jones and you will know such things interest me. I just need to make sure I have enough vacation days at work. PM me the details when you get a chance. Thanks.

Good night gentlemen... I'm out. Have to go take dad to the doctor again tomorrow because she is incompetent as hell and greedy. She removed all but one stitch from his hand and made him an appointment to remove just the last one. Set up from the get go and we are getting sick of this greedy crap. He already broke it open because she removed them a week too early. This incompetent greedy "monkey" doctor will be put in her place as she rightfully deserves. She is not the only one around the valley who can speak Latin...

Please have a great evening!

Default Saturday 1/20

Anyone in the central AZ area; the monthly Cleator jeep run is this saturday, meet at the Turkey Creek trailhead at 10 AM, just south of Bumble Bee Ranch. Up from the valley take the Bumble Bee exit off 17. We don't always do the Turkey creek/101 trail. Lots of fun, all runs end at the Saloon at Cleator Bar and Yacht club. live music at 1pm this weeks vittles is pot luck (bring your own if you want). Valley folks can continue on up to Crown King, about 13 miles up from CB&YC, then down to Pleasant, or back by dirt road to 17. I'm in the blue XJ.

I think if I pretended I was 18 again in my XJ right now.. something would definitely break... Murphy likes to follow me around. lol.
Honestly think I'm just still getting a real "feel" for the true condition of my XJ. I've done a lot... I mean a lot of maintenance on her since I got her in Nov. The PO was a complete idiot.
I'd need a page single spaced for everything I've done thus far. No joke.
At this point, I'm starting to feel pretty comfortable with the reliability for in-town type stuff. I've always taken really good care of my vehicles so any leaks, worn parts, sounds that could indicate issues do NOT sit well with me. I think especially since this is my DD, and not just a WW vehicle.
That's why I want to start out on mild trails that aren't going to stress her too much until I get a good sense of capability and condition for it.

Installed some speakers I had sitting around, sounds much better now. Still saving for a new t-case so I can re-install the front D shaft and get it out of my tiny garage, LOL. If I ever get this thing fixed for off road I'm down by Casa Grande and would be up for some wheeling.

@ stealthy...

I was a desert rat before.. years ago I had a house just south of Phoenix.
So I am familiar with where Apache Junction is. This time around I'm going up to the north or where I've been living in Oz.. would call it the top end.
I posted in another thread on here recently with a good pic from the top summit of Picacho Peak. Climbed that one a few times years ago. Not bad to the saddle, but all the way to the summit is straight vertical. And while it's no Everest, I remember being on the backside close to the summit and looking out seeing planes flying below me. LOL.
