Great thread!! So you swapped out your H4 headlamp bulb w/the LED bulb? This is very interesting to me... I might have to give this a try as I'm tired or replacing my H4 bulbs ~ annually. I have Cibie Euro Lights, upgraded wiring harness and Narva 85/100W bulbs.... they seem to last ~ a year or less before I have to replace them.

What is your current headlight configuration? Are the LEDs a nice sharp cut-off?

I like the idea of LED headlights, if they can mimic the "temperature" of halogens. I can't stand that bluish HID look.

I haven't received them yet. I grabbed them because I won a $50 voucher with the supplier. I have been looking for LED headlights for a while but all the ones I have seen just don't seem to have the light output,,,,,,until I saw these
I have a standard wiring harness in my jeep but that will be ok because of the lower wattage and current drawn by these globes.
When I get them I will post pics or a video of the lights against a wall to show the "cut". Being LEDs I think it will be sharp from hi to low.

Yeah I agree, hate that color but these are supposed to be between 5300 and 5500K which is a "pure white" light

My footwell LEDs were broken within a week from kicking them with my feet so I bought four 30cm led strips and wired them into we're the original lights went.

You can get these from superbrightleds.com, vleds.com, amazon and eBay.

I'm quite aggravated..I bought all these exact bulbs for my 01 and NONE of them are fitting...they require immense grinding and filing and even then some won't fit..I haven't even tackled the dash yet and am debating whether or not I should even bother!

(not that its the fault of anyone in this thread) but I am not pleased with these VLED people

That is why I did my own investigation before I bought any globes, I already knew what some of the globes were and mine didn't match with that list at all.

Just paint them with some of your wife's nail polish ! Or get some globe tint from an auto shop.
I have used both on tail lights and indicators, globe tint works better because it doesn't reduce light output too much.

I've installed most of the LEDs in my '00 WJ. Noticeable difference! I mangled one putting it in, so I'll be getting a replacement shortly. LOL And that itty-bitty one in the rear defroster switch.....are you all sure that's a T4 and not a T3??

You can get LEDs that are a single unit with the base ! These are called T5, B8.3D LEDs. Just a single SMD LED but plenty bright enough for the warning lights.

Got some new globes delivered today
The first lot pictured are 7.5 watts each, dual pole for the combo tail/brake lights. I am super happy with these !!! Very tough aluminium construction and very bright. These globes look too good to hide away in my tail lights !

I also received these 12 SMD 31mm festoon globes. Whilst not twice as bright as the 6SMD globes (but nearly), they do have a PURE WHITE light. I didn't notice the 6SMDs have a slight blue tint.
Very very happy with these.

So this isn't probably possible, but there's no write up on using a 96+ dash in an older XJ is there? I'm assuming the connector in the back would be different, and there may be an issue with fitting.. but I'm curious.

I have a '94 sport, a '96 classic and a '97 sport and the dashes and wiring plugs are all the same, so if you are talking about swapping between these years, then yes the swap is possible.
'98 and up have a different dash so, NO and
( I think ) pre '94 have a mechanical cable for the speedo, so, NO ?

I think you are getting your numbers mixed up. XJ clusters seemed to have changed with other options through out the "generations".
84-87 seem to be proprietary to those years and their engines (these have mechanical speed cables and are made by AMC.
88-90 are the renix years and have mechanical speedo cables (even though 87 is renix and the first 4.0 it isn't included).
91-96 is when Chrysler made the speedo electric but it looks like a 88-90 cluster on the front.
97-01 is for the newest body style for the XJ.

If you are wondering, how do I know this stuff? I have taken clusters out of all the "generations". Sometimes I sell them, sometimes I use them for upgrades. So 91+ is electric speedometers. *Everything I mentioned applies to US XJs, other countries will vary.*

Don't forget.... I'm here in Australia ! We only got XJs from 94 and here 94 to 97 are the same. 98 to 2001 are the same. They cheaped out on the jeeps here by using one level of dash options.
How do I know ??? Because I have 3 XJs right now in my yard. And also friends with the West Australian Jeep club president, with whom I have talked about this subject.
