I've got my '00 Cherokee interior torn up right now, and I'm sitting here in my office looking at the back of my instrument cluster. I feel pretty comfy about what LEDs to get for gauge illumination, the HVAC, switches and "sticks".....but I think I am missing an idiot light bulb or two.

Shouldn't I have a bulb for; airbag, check engine, and security?

Along those same lines, I have a bulb in the ABS spot, and I'm pretty sure this thing doesn't have ABS. LOL I also have bulbs in the upshift spot, which I'm not certain I need in an automatic.

I'm seriously thinking about just getting replacement bulbs for all of them. I notice on the little socket, it has "P" on one 'wing' and a number on the other. I assume the "P" is for "positive" (as I heard you can put the bulbs in wrong). Do they all face in one direction as you look at the back of the panel? As you can see, not all of mine do.

Oh, and I gather you snap out the old bulbs and put in the LEDs...where can you get additional 'bases'?

Yep on instal in the bases. Wreckers are probably the best place to get extra bases. I used a spare battery and worked out the polarity of each globe before the install (marked the positive with some of the wifes red nail polish) and the took note of the negative circuit on the board the globes clip into.

I used the same globes in the shift indicator and the dash, they are T10 single LEDs. I chose these because they are not TOO bright. As for brand ?? I just chose the cheapest on eBay that had the most positive comments ( kmotoring )

I just got off the phone with a guy from Superbrightleds.com....he recommended using these NEO5 and NEO4 LEDs....they have a base similar to what's already used on the incandescent bulbs. Just drop them in, no reusing the old 'bases'. Is that correct?

These are the ones....

I've used a few different globes to do my jeep. And have now located the final 2 parts in the jigsaw just waiting for deliveries now.

Globes for warning lights (10), ignition column (1), and some switches (6) are T5 single LEDs. I bought a packet of 50 for about $4 US

Globes for the instruments and shift indicators are T10 single LEDs not TOO bright and cost me $5.99 US for 10

Globes for the map lights, floor wells quarter panel indicators and number plate lights were T10 20 SMD LEDs. I wasn't sure if these would be bright enough but they are ! They cost $8.41 US for 10

The globes in the vanity mirrors are 31mm festoon 6 SMD globes. These are a directional light and quite bright, very suitable for vanity lights. Cost was $12.69 US for 10

The HVAC, ashtray and lighter globes are all BA9S globes in my Jeep. BA= bayonet 9= 9 mm S= single pole.
I bought 10 single LEDs again because I don't want them too bright while I'm driving at night. They were $3.94 US for 10

The single panel light I used for the dome light is most impressive! 7 watts of pure white light. It was a bit fiddly fitting it as the standard globe is a strange one. 2 of these bright mothers cost me $10.49 US

I got some BA15S 9LEDs for the under hood light, front and rear indicators and the rear fog lights. These came in packets of 4 so I bought 2 packs at $3.29 US a total of $4.58 US for 8

For my reverse lights I found these 7 Watt CREE LEDs BA15S. I'm thinking these will be bright enough. They were a bit more expensive at $11.99 US for 2 but I think worth it.

For the stop/tail lights I did a lot of searching and settled on these 7.5Watt BA15D 5xCREE LEDs ( the D= dual pole) again a bit expensive but going to be very bright. Cost was $14.99 US for 2

I saw these 9 Watt single LED aluminium lights and after much debate bought 8 pairs to use as rock lights. For $5.90 US a pair I thought would be a cheap tough solution.

A local company in conjunction with a Chinese manufacturer has developed H4 LED headlights !!!! YES! These, while expensive are price competitive with upgrade halogen globes here in OZ and very very bright. Measured equivalent to 30/50 H4 HIDs but cheaper and longer lasting (they hope ) $160 per pair. Don't have a photo yet but will soon.

I am still waiting on a 5 post electronic flasher unit to complete my conversion but that should be here soon.

Yes these are a good replacement. Just hope they aren't too bright. I got the ones that I did so if they are too bright or if I want to tint the color I can just pinch the wife's nail polish and give them a light coating.

Too bright? I'll be 46 in July. I need all the help I can get. LOL

I opted to get the 74xHP3 for the gauges and the T5s for the idiot lights. I'm thinking it should give a more even illumination to the gauges as opposed to the 120* Neos. Hopefully they'll come in early next week and I can get the dash put back together. LOL

Isn't there some kind of self-check for the lights? Something about pushing in on that odometer button, then turning the key?
