Hey guys. So my dad has a wrangler and I was always interested in swapping out the LED dash lights in it for a bright red or blue. Looks really sleek and unique from the typical white light that turns the dash green and orange through the transparent stickers. Now since I bought an '01 sport, I want to do this to the Cherokee instead. Here's a link to something I found on WranglerForum.com (here). Check em out. If anyone wants to verify the type of bulbs needed for each XJ and an installation step-by-step that would be awesome.

I took a shot and ordered some, Should be here today although the site i used v-leds had the blue 74s on back order, so I will only be getting my 194 bulbs today for the hvac or shifting area, cant remember what goes where. I can take pictures when I get into the project. I did alot of research and tried to pm a few people with no response So I kind of took a shot in the dark.

Superbrightleds.com has a selection of these lights, but I just need to confirm which of the four "instrument-general" sections in that link correspond to the gauge cluster. Also, which ones correspond to the HVAC controls?
EDIT: that link will take you to a 2001 XJ model... you can change it though

ok so the larger bulbs I got in today worked, however i only needed one pair. I replaced the shifting area lights and the 4wd lever area. The panels simply pull right off, really simple just give it a tug.
I iwll post a link of the bulbs soon, their website is down it seems.
this is the stock bulb

The replacement led

I took this pic after, it was still daylight so it doesnt look as good ill go out after dark and take another.

I figured since I was there I would check the size of the HVAC bulbs.

no, unfortunately they are still on back order. I was told that they would have new stock by march 1st but i still havent received shipping confirmation. I was really hoping to have them this weekend so I could do my stereo and dash bulbs at the same time but thats not looking good.
anyway here are the bulbs i ordered for the shifting area/4wd controls:
http://www.v-leds.com/Exterior-LED-B...99342-1-2.html
i can confirm that these fit in the above described areas. You need two bulbs from what ive seen so far.
and this is what i ordered for the dash and hvac controls
http://www.v-leds.com/Interior-LED-B...81066-1-2.html
I cannot yet confirm that these are the correct bulbs as they are on back order and I do not want to pull apart the dash until i get the bulbs.
I will be reporting back as soon as I get more info on the bulbs.

Shoot i also forgot to post the night shot of what i have so far.

no as you can see in the 4wd control, there is a slight hot spot towards the top. This happens because for some reason that is where the bulb is mounted. Its not really noticeable in person but if you are **** about it you may try a bulb with one led as oppose to 5 like i installed.

Those look great. Thanks for posting. But even if you got a weaker LED, wouldn't the 4WD still have a hot spot? It would just be less bright, but then again the rest of the area below it would be really dull probably.
