how do you get to the vanity mirror bulbs? I've poked around them but was too afraid to break something

I did this to mine also, I got Red LED's, aparently red is easier on your eyes at night, it really is. Alot of boats have red gauges since they don't disturb your vision.

I had some LED's left over so I put them in the driver side, passenger side and back so they light up the floor, handy if you drop something at night. Just used a flush red switch to toggle them on and off.

I will take some pics when I get home of both the vanity and map lights and how to safely remove the covers.

Vanity mirror lights 101.

Using a small, thin flat bladed screwdriver about 3 or 4 millimetres

Insert in the small hole at the bottom of the diffuser panel

Gently lever the screwdriver down only until the bottom tab pops out.

Using gentle pressure slide the panel toward the centre of the mirror, this releases the side tab and allows the panel to fall out.

Same process used for the other side.
Installation is the reverse, paying attention to the position of the tabs. Insert top first, then side. Instead of levering the screwdriver down, lever it up ! Gently, gently.

Map lights 101

Using the same screwdriver, insert at the rear, centre of the lamp button.

Carefully push straight up about 5 millimetres and lever the handle to the rear of the jeep.

Use your finger and pry the button downwards. The last pic shows the catch that holds the button and diffuser panel in place. This catch also activates the switch.

Patience and small movements should result in no damage and a job well done
Good luck and go gentle.

Oh, be careful bending the metal tabs that the globe clips into. The standard globe is a small bore and the replacement nearly twice the diameter.

The metal is thin and possibly brittle, so once again go gently, bend just enough, not too much.
The old globe is 29mm long, the new is 31mm, you need to be careful fitting this also so you don't break the plastic or your new globe.

Best looking one on this thread. Can you please tell me exactly what bulbs you used here? Are they SuperBrightLED?

This thread would be way more helpful if everyone posted EXACTLY what they got along with a picture. Pics are absolutely necessary due to the differences in these!

I used a wrangler cluster(eBay) edit not yj.

Then I went to superbrite and used their led list for the Cherokee, then copied the LED number and typed it into amazon. I then selected all sellers that at least have a warehouse here in the US so no int. Shipping

So you couldn't give me a part number for the LEDS or anything like that? I guess I'll take my chances otherwise...it seems that the TJ cluster has white on the cluster, and the XJ is green I think....

I think I will hold off and get a TJ cluster one of these days, because man...that just looks awesome all around.

Front and rear shot of the end result.

I am very happy with how this turned out, it took me less than an hour including taking photos and cooking dinner.
You could easily read a book in my jeep now and not strain your eyes, the wife can do her makeup and not look like she just left clown college and the light in the back is bright enough for a workshop
( or to grow some vegetables hydroponically ).

Stay tuned for the next instalment of - The BB jeep's, you light up my life. Where I install my dash, instrument and warning lights.
Coming soon - exterior LED mod, indicators, brake lights, tail lights, reverse lights, number plate lights, park lights. ( just waiting for them to arrive).
What size and brand did u use for the shift inducator

There are 2 nuts holding the steering column up, undo but don't completely remove them and the facia and cluster should come out nice and easy.
