It could just be that the actual light is that yellow incandescent bulbs give off. Buy a 194 led if you're pre 97 or a t5 neowedge led if you're 97+. If they don't work send them back. Superbrightleds is really good with returns.

Not sure about a 89 but on a 98 it was really simple. On yours just look for some screws around the cluster and take apart what's necessary. It should only take 5-10 minutes then the cluster should just pull straight out.

I can confirm bulbs only for the 97-01 cherokees
5-#74's for the dash
2- #194's for the transfer case, and 4wd transfer case.
4 or 5? (depending on if you have a stock fog lamp switch) - Neowedge B (10mm) for the switches and HVAC (thank you LYKOS)

I also ordered 2-12led bulbs #1156 for the kicker panels. Might be overkill but a pair cost me $1.99+free ship off of ebay, So im not going to lose sleep if I dont like them.

LYKOS, do you know if my count for the HVAC/Switch lights are correct? The v-leds site has there T4 bulbs listed at 9.5 mm. So I might go to autoillumination as you suggested just to be sure.

Yeah I Am loving the deck. Installed it over the weekend along with 4-5.25" JL speakers. Ran New wiring to the doors and a usb cord from the head unit to the center compartment. Sounds awesome even with bluetooth connectivity. W ish I had Checked the LED size on the door lights!!!
Thank you!!!

On an 89 it will not just pull out like the 97+. Take off the plastic bezel, 4 "hidden" screws. Then there is the cluster screws. On the pre 97s there is a speedometer cable that needs to be removed from the back of the cluster. Then unclip the power cable, I don't know the actual name of it The big difference between the years is the speedometer cable.

So how many 194's and 74's in total does one need for a 95? I'm doing every bulb possible on the interior except cabin lights and glove box.

Sidenote: It's damn hard to find a true purple LED that doesn't look pink. Will post purplelicious pics.

You're not going to want any 74s. You need 7 194s, 5 for the cluster and 2 for the 4wd and transfer case lights (if you have a manual only get 6).

For hvac, switches and others I couldn't tell you. You'd have to take the lights and take a picture since I have a 98

The 89 cluster has a shaft going to the speedo. It has a nice handy dandy clip, but if you pull hard enough it comes out

I think I'm gonna try the white ones first. They aren't expensive enough for me to wrestle over which ones will make me happier. If they turn out a funky color, I'll just get the blue. I know it sounds silly, but I really want the needles and upper ends of the guages to retain their factory red colors.
