So I pulled my new trailer (~4500 GVW) up to the lake with my stock '94 Cherokee. I was hoping others that regularly towed would chime in with opinions/advice. The Old Girl hauled real nice, but I have a few questions:
Temperature: On the steepest part of the trip I was running about 3500rpm in 1st (~40kmh) for 10 to 15 minutes and I heated up real quick from normal. The needle never quite got past the last line before red on my temp gauge, and when I got to the top, I was right back down to slightly above normal. Is this about what I should expect or should I look at upgrading my cooling system? I'm gonna flush it before next trip, in any case.
Rear End: Mine is the Sport Model and doesn't have the tow package, would I see a large advantage going to a 3.73 rear end?
I live in BC, so any camping I do is gonna be uphill, any veteran towers with tips or tweaks, I would love to hear from you!

Yes, majorly get a cooling upgrade. The stock automatic is only rated for about 3000 pound towing weight... the full tow package includes a giant transmission cooler. 3.73 gears was actually only on certain model years and can kill mileage when not towing. If you stay out of overdrive you'll be running high revs anyway, so it'd be a good time to beef up your radiator, maybe look at a ZJ fan clutch and/or Taurus electric fan if you're so inclined.
I should mention, the rad, TS, waterpump, clutch fan and hoses are A-OK, I just recently (within 15000km) replaced the whole works. I just have never really worked her this hard before, so I'm not 100% how much she can take, or whether I should invest a few preventative dollars in some key areas.
Well I'm not a tower (and I have a manual) but I've been paying attention.

There is an upgrade up can do by installing a zj clutch fan. The last post put it. The model number is Napa part 272310
Sweet! tyvm. Think changing the gearing in the rear end is worth considering? Fuel economy is already shot with the big brick behind it, I figure.

I have an 88 Cherokee LTD, and need some parts for it.
I have no problem going to a pick and pull or searching for used parts but im not sure of the interchangeability of the years.
I know it needs all four power window motors, the one right rear sorta works but superslowly. I was wondering if anyone can tell me what years i can take the motors out of, and also let em know if ill probably have to take the complete regulator.
I ask that because when the motor went on my ford i discovered it was easier to change the whole things since the motor was attached to the regulator with pressed on studs.
Also I need a new rear spring and someone said that all Cherokees from every year used the same leaf springs. is that tru?
