I've got a question. I got the Rusty's 3" lift kit with their hydro shocks. I'm going to be lifting it another 1.5". Was wondering will I need longer shocks? Also, I was planning on relocating the shock mounts on the rear axle to retain original shock travel, but would that even be necessary for just another 1.5"?

I am stumped on this one. I first start my xj up and after a very short drive it starts this hunting idle upon stopping; while in this hunting mode I get 7 mpg while driving. Black soot and very rich running symptoms out of the tailpipe that also accompanies this hunting mode. The tach will bounce up and down, 300-900 rpms. and it will almost stall when I come to a stop and then jumps up to 900-1000 rpms. once it pops into first gear (I assume, it sorta lurches forward at the last second when stopping, feels like a second to first shift). It'll smooth out a little and then start the hunting idle all over again. Here is where it is confusing. If during this erratic idle I pop the hood, disconnect #4 fuel injector, wait for it to settle out (2 sec), reconnect #4 - it runs perfect until I turn it off the motor, in which I will have to do this same song and dance if I want to drive again. And when I say perfect it does not have an idle problem for 1.5 hrs of stop and go driving. I have swapped out injectors for known good ones and still the same. I had a exhaust manifold leak which I have since addressed and taken care of. It did not help or hurt my issue here. Any suggestions?

Not dumb at all. Yes. By letting it sit unhooked for about 4 days too touching the neg and pos terminals for a minute, too many times to count. Either way though it reset the CEL...but it soon came back on. Code from 'the zone' reader says o2, which I changed out as well.

Maybe I should start a thread.
I have ran cleaners and also currently running Lucas Fuel treatment. Also seafoamed the $*@t out of her, through intake mani, gas tank and added to oil before oil change. Also I have done most if not all the standard maintenance stuff. Spark plugs, cap, rotor button, wires (plugs were blackened but otherwise properly worn) ....also some non standard. Cleaned or replaced: TPS, IAC, air temp sensor, MAP....basically every sensor on the intake manifold I have checked (voltmeter) cleaned or replaced. I have checked for vac leaks, I didn't find any - although I may have missed a leak (my vents switch from face to defrost if I give her a little giddy-up.)

Thanks darkfalcon. I have had great success utilizing this forum in pinpointing fixes for my jeep and many of my friends' jeeps, and hope that I have contributed the same. I am a firm believer that 'this isn't the first time this has happened to a jeep' (if only I had a nickel every time I said that) lol

I have a 99 jeep cherokee sport with the 4L fuel injected v6 in it. I left it sitting for a couple days, and now the only way I can get it to start is by giving it gas .But as soon as i let off the gas it dies. I have already replaced the battery, and alternator within the past year and I have full voltage. So please if you have any answers feel free to reply to this message or send me a private message.
