The electric fan in my 99 XJ seems to cycle ALL THE TIME; even shortly after start up. Is this normal, or should I be looking for a bad sending unit for the fan?

I have been trying to track down this noise in my '01 for the longest. It almost sounds similar to when you unhook the brake booster hose, but it's coming from the passenger side near the headlight. Any ideas?

Hey Dukie, check this out please and let me know what you think.
Some pretty nasty clunking at my feet. Does not occur While in gear and on the gas. Only occurs as soon as you let off the gas or push in the clutch. It will do it at idle, in neutral, when warm, but not when its cold. The previous owner says he had a shop do a replacement clutch kit but didnt notice the clunking when he drove the vehicle home from the shop. Also, i ran my vin # and it says my XJ came with an automatic trans. Could the P.O. have ruined something when he did the swap? Does this sound like anything you have heard of before? Any suggestions would be a great help, thanks!

Try turning your key to the on position, make sure you're in park/neutral, and crossing the terminals on your starter, with a screwdriver. RUBBER HANDLE WOULD BE IMPORTANT! Or pliers, whatever.. just so it's insulated. Get a good connection between the large positive and ground connections. If it starts your jeep like normal, the issue is between the ignition switch and the NSS.
There is also a much more detailed write-up for troubleshooting this issue, if you search it on here.. this was just how I determined my issue.

I have a tiny buildup on the side of a contact point in my distributor cap. The #6 spark plug (if that is the back) has a tan colored gritty buildup on the white part around the electrode. It looks be be burned a little more than the others in that same area. What might that be? The rest of the spark plugs look good, just a few scorch marks past the electrode a bit.

The noise starts as soon as i start the engine, and no, the RPMs are normal. Should I still check the module you mentioned?

Don't know if this will help, but I had similar problem with '87 Cherokee, automatic transmission; totally dead-no start in park. Plenty of volts in the battery and lights would come on, but no joy when key was turned to start. Was asked to attempt to start in neutral, and that solved my problem.
