Hey dukie what you you feel about this one. He's getting a clunking noise in 4wd only when turning left. I would think joints but it's only happening in 4wd?

Does a snorkel still use the stock airbox and the stock air filter?

Ya, the air box just gets a cute hole cut in it. Also need to waterproof the airbox in some way.

It can. You can then just use stock airbox and filter. If you go directly into intake tube you will need to have some form of external filter. Usually a cone filter.

it's because the crossmember is mounted in a different location (further forward), so the kit has to be made with shorter arms to compensate. A brief check tells me that TNT Customs, Iron Rock Offroad, and Rusty's long arms all have an option to choose the Peugeot Tranny - however the "kits" may or may not give you the option. My advice is to call the company and ask. You probably will need to order over the phone.

There are long arm systems out there that do not replace the crossmember. These are more of a mid-arm system. Rock Krawler and Full Traction both offer these long arm systems.

My advice though if you're lifting and putting bigger tires on it - ditch that boat anchor tranny. The lift will only make it explode faster. May as well get rid of it before the lift.

I dunno if anybody else has run into this but imma throw some dice:
Hit the brakes from any speed real easy= good straight stop. Hit 'em hard= yank to the left, then back right. Pulled front wheels off and found these cute little dimples where the brake pads are supposed to ride. A grinder and some grease and have straight stopping so far. Is the metal on the steering knuckle weak and the pads wear grooves? Or is it factory and I just f****d up?

Anybody know how much the speedometer will be off when running 4:10's with 31's? Currently running 3:55's with 31's and my speedometer is off by 5 MPH at 55 MPH and around 6.5 MPH off at 65 MPH.

Thanks dukie. Im working on that but those ax15s are pesky buggers to find complete with everything i need for the swap. Found an auto with transfer but no linkages. But thats more of a pain of a conversion than i want

Dont know if this has been brought up yet but if you operate the np231 in 4wd on dry ground it will clunk alot. The 231 should only be used when there is a big chance of tires slipping; snow, mud, ice?, realllllyyy wet.

Smile OEM Best Drivetrain Option(s)

Hi. I want to start by saying I think what you guys have going here is great! I have a 99 Cherokee Sport and was wondering; of all the direct swap transfercases and rears, which were the best? I would like to get the most out of my xj while keeping the parts OEM/bolt on. I believe some years included better differentials, etc.
Thanks!!!
Ryan
