Hey I've been searching all over the place on this forum and others to find a solution to this problem but no one seems to have an exact fix for it. I have a 1990 XJ with the laredo package. I bought it not too long ago knowing that it needs some fixing up in some areas. One of the parts giving me a lot of hassle right now is my overhead console. When I bought it, it wasn't in exact working condition. It's weird, when you open the doors, the courtesy lights don't come on. The front lights work when you press the buttons but the rears don't work at all. Oddly enough though the light above the cargo space comes on if the driver side front and rear doors are open
.
My question is, what the heck is up with this thing? I checked the fuse for the overhead console and courtesy lights and it's not blown. The rear lights could be just burned out but it feels like the buttons don't even really want to go in when you press on them. Any advice or help would be very much appreciated. I saw some other threads and posts on here asking about the same problem but almost all of them got nowhere.

I have a 1998 XJ and lately I've had some start troubles. The first time I turn the key, it never seems to want to turn over. The second try it usually starts right up. Should I be concerned about this?

Well I did recently install a new stereo deck and replace some of the blown old stock speakers, but the truck already came with a crappy aftermarket stereo in it when I bought it. I had the new stereo and speakers professionally installed and they did tell me that the guy who previously owned it must have done the install himself because his wiring was all over the place. Didn't really look like he knew what he was doing. I had no idea that could cause problems for the overhead console.

My 90 kind of does the same thing with the rear cargo light, the rear cargo light will only turn on when the rear drivers side door is open but when all the other doors are open the front ones work. And the cargo light doesnt turn on when the liftgate is open but I'm pretty sure that the switch in the liftgate is bad. I tested the switch on the cargo light its self and it works.

I took my 89 cherokee laredo in to the shop for an ABS problem. Turns out the ABS pump needed replaced. after replacing that, i still hadn't got it back for a long time. a LONG time. turns out the prior worker who was handling it no longer is "with them" and they have the veteren mechanics trying to find out whats going on. The front left brake pulls the car when you brake. He said it only does this maybe every 2 or 3 test drives, but they can't find out what is causing it. I am starting to get worried. any ideas?
