My lower rad hose blew out today while driving, the temp gauge never got passed 210 but when I got home I saw smoke. I popped the hood and smoke was pouring out from under the valve cover, turned the key back again and the needle was buried. Is there anything I should do besides new coolant and oil before I try to start it again? It is a 2000 so the whole head issue worries me.
I remember seeing a list of PCMs by year and options a while back. Well now I need it and I can't find it. Does anyone know where it is?
The reason I need it is my PCM died, it is not the original PCM and it is for a 96 auto, I have a 97 mt and even though the 96 has worked fine up until now I figured I'd rather have the correct computer. I tried a 99 auto PCM from the jy and the jeep runs but very roughly and throws a code.
like you said you should get one from the same year to make sure. the junkyard is your best bet but if that's not an option check ebay. i can't vouch for the seller but a quick search and i found this
by doing some research to swap transmission, i remember the 97 is compatible with a 96, so that's probably why it was working for you, not much, if anything changed for the 96-97 years, except body style of course. while the 99 probably has a lot of different stuff that the pcm doesn't recognize on your 97.
Yeah I saw that one, it's for an auto though and I have a manual. I know there's a list out there somewhere (buried deep in a thread is where I found it once) that has the p/n for each PCM based on year and options. If I can't find it I'll probably just order the same one that I had before.

ah my bad, i read "mine was for a 96 auto" and assumed that your 97 was also automatic. watch the part out posts, ebay and local listings everyday and you might get lucky. i agree a manual pcm must be harder to find.

I have been trying to clean the head lights on my 2002 Jeep Grand Cherokee. I try every thing on youtube. But, nothing will clear the up.
Is the oxidation of the inside of the head light and if so, is it possible to clean them. Or, necessary to buy new lights.

What kind of power steering fluid does it call for?
If regular old standard stuff, you should be fine.
If it's some new fangled crap, I might be concerned.

It says in the little manual I got with it ATF automatic transmission fluid I put in Castrol automatic transmission fluid also can you tell me can a Jeep Cherokee 2.8 CRD automatic Tow in two wheel drive or does it have to go in 4 wheel drive on normal ground thanks for your help

I wouldn't worry about the fluid.
As for towing, I won't make a recommendation without seeing an owner's manual. wrong advice could result in horrible consequences.

Thanks for your help on the fluid situation feel more relieved now as I only just got the Jeep but bit unsure if I can tow in two wheel drive or have to be in for advice which would you feel would be the best to stay in for a drive whilst towing unfortunately Jeep Cherokee is new to me has my Land Rover recently got to old and decided to buy a jeep instead

Those headlamps are coated and sometimes the coating becomes so badly worn replacement is the only other solution. There are people who re-coat and restore them just research their reputation.

how do i remove the rear wiper assembly? on the earlier models if that changes anything.
right now i'm trying to get the rear assembly from a xj at the junkyard, but when i try to unscrew the large nut on the outside, it doesn't loosen it but rather turn the splines with it. here, i tried to illustrate. i unbolted it from the inside but it doesn't want to budge... any ideas?
(red part rotates forever, green part doesn't move)

If I remember correctly, the nut you have colored red comes off so it may be stripped or something.
