so I'm trying to fix some broken wires in the driver door but I can't get the plastic trim piece off on the left kick. It's the one that the hood pop is over. There's a hole with a bolt in there but i can't seem to get a socket on it. Big sockets hit the plastic and bottom out and smaller ones are too small for the bolt. Anyone know exactly what size that bolt is or if there's some kind of trick im missing? Thanks. It's on an 01 btw
Thank you for the link, it will make it easy to get access to the pump. On Ebay I found three replacements with different prices but I year warranty each. SAP, ACDELCO and BOSCH. All three sell the pump and the filter regulator combo. The prices run from $49.99 to $99. Is that all I need to do the fix? All the rest of the parts are reusable? Thank you all for any input.

I always push the trim father back (it can't move out any, but can be pushed in) and then I can slide the socket on since it's tapered.

The ones I have encountered have always been a big Phillips.

It's not even a real nut. It's just some thin sheet metal pressed into a shallow nut shape. I gave up trying to get the driver side one out when running my amps power wire. I think the passenger side was 10mm or 11mm. I was able to pull the kick panel back and slide it over the hood release. That gave me enough room to access behind it.

You found a Bosch Fuel Module for $100? I am not talking just the fuel pump. Where? Pretty sure this would be the on one for my '00.
I have never done one but have a bad check valve in mine. So starting after sitting for awhile takes a bit. I just turn the key to prime, let it be for a couple seconds, and she starts right up. I have exactly 49lbs when running. So I have researched this a bit for if and when the time comes. So since you are not dropping the tank I would think the gasket which might come with the Bosch one. If not here:
Now I am one of those while I am here types. Great for piece of mind. Not so much for the wallet. I might buy a new screw ring. That would probably be a waste though.
But the one thing that does bother me is that you reuse the plastic clip on the check valve, silver piece on top of the module, to attach the fuel line to the pump. Can't find a Part # in my '00 Parts Catalog. Reusing the old one would bug me. I would have to research this and hopefully be able to find one. Thing is everybody probably reuses this and it would be fine. It is just me. Here is a halfway decent video I found:
The Bosch fuel pump and filter/regulator is available on Ebay for $99.99 from the seller "premium-fuel-injection-pumps", free shipping. It works in 1998-2001 Jeep Cherokees. Since all three pumps/regulators I listed previously have 1 year warranty, why is the DELCOAC pump/regulator is not as good as the Bosch for $40 less?
Most feel the Bosch pump is a higher quality one with less of a chance of a new one failing, your labor is the major factor on these so a few dollars more to save on replacing in less than a yr. PRICELESS!!
Good morning.
Seems like last year ALL THE YARDS were full of old cherokee's and now can't find a good used front axle for son's 01. (Well, for less than 350.00)
So a search on C/L finds one not too far away but it's a Right Hand Drive..
What's the same and What is going to HAVE TO GET MODDED to work?
Person selling is supposedly a '96 and mine is a 01 sport. (4.0, auto, 4x4, 3.55's).
Kinda need to know in the next day or so please..
Thanks

Should be an "upgrade" the 01 had a low pinion, the 96 should be high pinion. I believe that everything else is the same. Maybe the track bar mount is on the other side? Not 100% sure. But if you can weld it'll work for sure.
doing a wheel bearing job for my friend. He has a 1992 Cherokee with the 4.0. It's 2WD. I was taking this bolt off of the front caliper and it stripped pretty bad. It's a 12-point 13-mm. I took the one off the bottom to take a picture of it. What is this bolt called??? Slider bolt? I can't find one anywhere. Can't even find one at pick n pull. I've checked 94-98 cherokees and even grand cherokees.
thanks for the reply, and clarifying that. Does anyone know where I can get parts besides the junkyard? None of the yards around here have any of those 2WD jeeps. Rock auto doesn't seem to have the right part. At least they don't look correct
Question for ya'll. My 1998 4.0L 4WD Auto trans has yet again given me some perplexing problem. Got in this morning to drive to work and noticed my passenger floor board was soaked. I thought it happened to be my water bottle sitting upside down there, removed the wet mat and headed down the road. Look over and saw a couple drips. Placed driver mat over there and it kept going, no more water drips for the last 30 minutes of errand running. Water does not smell like coolant at all. Heater works fine, cooling system is running fine as far as i can tell. Other notable things:its raining cats and dogs, I haven't driven it since Saturday and I just got the head back on about 3 weeks ago after having massive misfire problems. Sent it out to a machine shop and found out the #3 exhaust valve was out of round (very strange) and of course all valve springs weak, fixed and rebuilt the head. Please tell me this does not sound like a heater core. Is there any other way rain may be coming in from under the dash? Please any suggestions that don't involve me dropping my dash. The weather is nasty right now but I do plan on seeing if the a/c drain is clogged. TIA
