Should I take this opportunity to replace anything else down there and should I get any u-joint other than this one?

I'm glad you got an answer, but this is not technically the proper thread section to post about a Google search (being that this is the ask the question thread I'm not saying it was wrong for you to post here) since it is in the OEM Cherokee Tech section. There are sections for non Cherokee questions.
Getting a taste of my own medicine haha. I'm sorry if I offended you by saying that earlier lol! But technically if were gunna be technical the guy that started the thread said you can even ask the question "what is a jeep" so I think that technically gave me permission to ask the question.

I just replaced my CPS sensor in my 99 XJ, but now it's running poorly. The problems I had before where that it would shut off while driving and then not start for a long time, now it starts easily but kind of "chugs" under accelerating and idles poorly. Did I miss something while replacing it? Could it be a bad sensor? It's not OEM.

Those of you that have been inside the 8.25, how much resistance does the carrier bearings have to being turned by hand.
With spider gears and side gears removed, transfer case in neutral, carrier-pinion-driveshaft is difficult to turn, requires two hands. Does this sound normal?
Rear differential temperature is 135 F after highway driving, which is normal.

After the no start problem a couple of days ago with the truck that turned out to be a bad ballast connection, I ordered a new one and installed it, even though the old one was probably OK. Better safe than sorry.
I was driving along happy as a lark yesterday in the Cherokee, and all of the sudden it stopped running. Again.
When I got out, there was a slight smell of something burning.
I opened the hood, and after a little investigating, discovered the CPS wire had somehow come loose from it's tywraps (how is that even possible), and fell down on the exhaust pipe.
The heat melted the insulation, and it apparently shorted out on the metal.
Since I had an extra I had bought just in case (imagine that!) I stuck it on, making sure it was as close to the flywheel as possible and tried to start it, but it's a no go.
We finally towed it home. (again)
This crap is getting old.
Another Cherokee friend says it happened to him, and it turned out it fried the computer.
Any suggestions on what I should check before I spend hours troubleshooting?
