I was thinking that. Rotella blend is cheap...mobil... I prefer not to skimp on vital lubricants.. would you want second rate blood flowing in your body?

I've never had a problem with running 10w30 in winter, oil pressure has always come up right off start up. What is a good oil then? I've always thought that as long as the oil has the petroleum certification badge/star on it, its good. And I always thought Shell oil was one of the best.

High oil pressure doesn't mean oil is flowing. just put that out there first.

Yea, that's very true.

Anyways maybe I'm not using the right oil or whatever, but that's my problem. The lifters have been noisy since I got it (which was 3 Years ago) but hasn't gotten any worse or anything. So I don't think the brand of oil is really going to make a difference.
Now, I would be very interested to know what you guys' idea of a good oil is. I honestly thought that using Shell oil was a good choice, but what should I be using?

Of course 10w30 will create high oil pressure on startup, it's way thicker than you're supposed to be running, to the point of it voids warranties and causes damage. Guess you ever read the manual for any vehicles made in the last 30 years huh? Here in 2015 you should be running a 0w.

There's a thread linked in my signature if you want my opinion on what makes a good oil.

Yes they do rotate to whatever angle you need. It could be bolted to the stock bumper or other mounts could be used.
If you have not bought the bar yet.. I have a 20" for sale..

I have read the manuals for your information and right on the back of the manual it is written :

Engine Oil - API Certified (10W-30 is preferred)

Maybe I'm missing something....idk

Also remember that the manuals where written 14+ years ago. Technology changes and comes with improvments. Better refining processes, better R&D, and chemical blends in synthetic oils. Use what you want though. Remember you came to us with the issue and we offered advice.

Here's the link because signatures don't show up on the app, and I don't know if you're using it:
https://www.cherokeeforum.com/f2/rot...essing-188168/

I just read through it and then saw this, purely by coincidence. There's a lot of good info in that link that clearly points toward Rotella T6 5w40 use in 4.0Ls.

There are two problems with the owner's manual:
1) Technology, research, and additives change. Printed manuals don't.
2) ChryCo's objective is to simplify their stock and make money

They also spec ATF+4 for the AW4 transmission, which was designed to use Dex III. They held the Dex standard for the trans (which was designed by Aisin-Warner with no input from Chrysler), and then they suddenly changed the spec to ATF+ once the warranties on AW4-equipped vehicles expired. Why? It's cheaper and easier for them to stock and service one type of fluid.

I'll trust unbiased independent research over dealer claims, ten times out of ten.

^^ but I think that salad guy was kinda biased towards that Rotella snake oil dressing... I only use the top grade stuff sold at sheetz!

Lol. Speaking of salad, I got two front brake lines to use in the rear. Looks promising. I'll snap pictures.
