So what would one need to do to swap a manual jeep tranny to an auto? Is it just swap trannys and replace a few shift linkages orrr? Just hypothetical to learn...

After offroading the other week, my passenger side door makes all the power locks fire on & off when it gets closed. Sometimes bumps in the road will cause it too.
Most likely just a frayed wire, I imagine? Is there any relay or fuse for individual doors?
I believe there is a fuse for the door actuators in general but can't imagine it going out would cause only this slight weirdness.

Parts :
Tranny
Pedal assembly
Wire harness
Sensors
Trans mount
CPU
Clutch
Its a lot of work and not the easiest to make the CEL stay off. Rob and I have looked into this multiple times. Best bet is to find a 5 speed donor XJ and steal all the parts.

Shouldn't that be TCU instead of CPU?

I think he was asking about going from a 5 speed to an automatic, so I think robbing parts off a manual jeep to convert it to auto might be counterproductive haha

already thought of that. but for a car to be legal on nz roads cant have the front differential free hanging. there is a rule that says a car cant have sharp or dangerous fittings. and a differential that is disconnected is a dangerous fitting under nz rules, and we only got the japanese made and chrysler imported 94+ xj's all 4wd we never got the 2wd model. my other option is weld out the differential hump in the front end then make up a chrysler k member and adapt a chrysler valiant (aus) front end. but i want to avoid that if i can. im not planning on selling the vehicle.
DS weighs 20 pounds max leave it in and do LPG if it's such a problem (which I really don't see). I really believe you are overthinking this.

I think going from a manual to an auto could end up being pretty labor intensive. You'd need wiring harnesses, nss, pedal, shift linkages, tranny, flex plate, driveshaft?, shifter trim piece. That's just to name a few things I would think you'd need, there's probably quite a bit more you'd need.

yesterday i drove my xj for about 40 minutes straight on and off highways but most of it was highway, when i got home i shut it off then 10 minutes later had to go to store so i went to start it but it didnt turn over and sounded really rough. i tried again and it started but it still was insanely rough. i let it sit for a minute while giving it gas then drove away and it was fine. this seems to only happen when i drive for a while and when i go to start it at around 210 degrees, any idea what is happening? PLEASE HELP
