I have a 8.25 from a 96 xj. Going to throw it into my new 96 xj that has the 35. Is it going to be worth throwing it in? I have heard that I want the 8.25 from a 97xj+ because it has 29 spline.
I guess I'm just asking if it will be worth my time to drop it in. about 250k on the 8.25 axle. Thoughts or opinions?

That's what I'll have to do. I'm doing some reading on another site and they are in an argument that early 96 models came with 27 whilst the later models came with 29. I'll pray for a later model but with my luck I'll have 27.
I'll report back with findings.

Some rims will fix that up in a jiffy. Spacers are technically an option but you must be vigilant about keeping them torqued properly and buy quality units in the first place. Although for how much a good set of spacers are worth you might as well get rims.
More lift won't do much since the control arms will still be in the same spot, laterally speaking.

My 87 Cherokee 4 liter auto won't start. It turns over and starts when I spray ether but then dies immediately. Is there a fuse or relay for the fuel pump? What color wire is it to power it on? It runs down the driver side next to the drivers seat, correct?

There is a fuel pump relay and a fuel pump ballast resistor.
