If you need to ask, you need a new cap

It's not doing that, temp goes up to 260° then slowly goes down and maintains around 220° or so. Stock gauges though so i know it's not 100% reliable lol. That all happens when i cruise at 60 to 65. When i slow down (any increment of speed) temp goes up again. Like i said, I'm gonna burp the system, test drive, then see what happens.

Why not actually attempt to fix the problem instead of bandaid it? The radiator, tstat, water pump, hoses and/or fan clutch are all possible components of overheating. I can appreciate how hot our engines run and have had to deal with pre-det a couple times, but getting some new components in (water pump, rad and tstat) I don't have any overheating issues. If you do all that and still want a little extra venting power for the hot days then yea, add some vents. Another thought is to wrap your injectors with some heat shield. Not the exhaust or intake, just the injectors.

Original radiator?

Original fan clutch?

Test the cap. Or just replace it.

To my knowledge: yes, yes.
Just took a test drive, temp didn't go past the right edge of the 210 mark while i was driving. Stopped for some stock flex:

Then my temp was at the next line on gauge (~230°?) Started driving back home then temp maintained at or below 210°

I'll bet your radiator is dirty if it happens at highway speeds, and your fan clutch if it happens mostly at low speeds.

I'll keep an eye on my temp the next couple days. If anything will need to be replaced it well be fan clutch.

Default 1999 XJ Badge

Anyone know where to buy Mopar Jeep emblem that goes on the front of the XJ? Every one I see is either for another model or is aftermarket (reviews typically warn against these due to poor adhesion).
Thanks,
Mill
