Run a nut on it. Grind the tip somewhat pointed. Remove nut, cleaning the threads.

What is a "seemingly but not really" D44? And what years can I find them on?

Any tj Rubicon

And I'm sure he is talking about the fact that it's only a d44 center section, everything else is d30

Do throttle body spacers actually give it more power, if so what brand should I go for? Thanks

They don't do anything. Might as well buy new headlight for more power.

What are your feelings on a bored TB? I hear they are an actual improvement.

Is there an estimation of how long the AW4 transmissions last?

I'm getting ready to bolt a 71,000 mile motor to a 243,000 mile transmission. I would swap the trans too but I can barely afford the motor swap.

Anything I can do to check the condition of the trans? I've never done any repairs or inspections on a transmission before.

A lot longer than the rest of it, don't worry about the transmission. While you have the engine loose did you pop the oil pan off and check any of the bearings? Great time to do the freeze plugs too.
