It doesn't smell like anything, and I checked inside of the Jeep and can't find any source. Checked under the rear seats, which is where that hole seems to go...
I recently got a '94 GC Laredo for the wife to get around safe in winter conditions. I got everything working except it will not shift into OD. It's a 4.0 L with a 42re (?).
I cycled it for the codes and got 55 for the trani and 12 / 55 for the engine (as had put new bat in it) thinking that engine code may be a lead as an issue for trani.
It shfts and runs ok otherwise but is a pig on fuel on the highway 12mi/gal
I have checked what I can but without wiring diagrams or what values any sensors etc should have I can't do much. I have googled every lead and had no obvious answers from that.
So I figured I join here as I'm sure someone here has the answer to where or what I need to do, check, etc with out spinning my wheels in the wrong direction.
Thanks,

hi all, so i have a 94 xj sport and its smoking a bit, not so much when driving but when it sits at idle for a few minutes it starts to get pretty bad, then if i drive away the smoking seems to stop or at least not smoke as much at all, there is also a bit of a whistle under the hood, i know whistle is a bit general, but its the only way i can describe the sound, its not really high pitched, sounds kind of like R2D2 from star wars lol, anyways it gets louder with RMP and lower when let off the gas, i don't notice it while i'm driving around really , but my jeep has a pretty loud exhaust with bigger pipes and magnaflow. any ideas on what this could be? or if they seem related? it does miss fire here and there. im kind of thinking maybe i need a new head gasket, but not sure..
also if it is a head gasket should i just replace the head manifold and put a new header on it while i have it torn all apart anyways since i read that they tend to have problems with cracking stock anyways?
thanks for the help! just starting this jeep build and am lovin this forum!

I have a 93 Cherokee and My switch board for my windows is not working. I know the motor works for the drives window but it's stuck down. I need to get it up asap, should I just replace all the switches? Also, I have to roll all the windows down for the passengers. What should I do? Thanks in advance!
Whistling is caused by a vacuum leak. You can find those by going around the engine bay and spraying the vacuum lines with small amounts of water or carb cleaner and listening for a change in idle.
okay, thank you. so do you think the white smoke is caused by something leaking into the hole/leak? or you think it is an entirely different issue?

Check for vacuum leaks first.

Which transmission mount do I need? Looks like they're all the same up through 99? Why is Rockauto only charging $12 when advanced/napa etc have them at $35+?. I'm gonna pick those up and some motor mounts, and it's cheaper than buying local. Internet wins again, I guess!

You'd be much better off finding something within a couple hours of you and driving yourself to go pick it up - or even renting a vehicle to go pick it up. You never know what you'll find. I hooked up with a guy near Jacksonville (about 2 hours from me) that wanted to sell the tranny & transfer case together for 150. I offered him 85 bucks for the transfer case, done deal - NP242 just like you're buying.
