From my 99 pretty sure its 29 spline
Attachment 220286
Is the pinion shorter?
I'm fairly sure the actual forged housing is the exact same size... they can be swapped, after all.Originally Posted by DieselD

Also, if that shield by the yoke is indicative then my 96 with a June/July build date could be a 29 spline. Which goes against what I've heard from others.

Dumb question: is it normal for the rear passenger side wheel to get kinda hot? Not scalding or anything (you can keep your hand on it), just hot because the exhaust is right there? I got new tires today and I have a vibration randomly around various cruising speeds, and want to rule out a sticking caliper (I can still coast and no pulsing in the brake pedal).

jack it up, see if the bearing are ok. Is it hotter in the center?Originally Posted by 1991Jeep_Man

Seemed evenly dispursed. Just a nice hot/warm. Bearing is fine (checked both sides during disc brake swaps while the axles were out). No chips, wear marks, noise.Originally Posted by Cnwxj

Nope. It's just the yoke is a different casting.Originally Posted by DieselD

That's correct. There is only one C8.25 housing.Originally Posted by tssguy123

You likely have a 29-spline, but this cannot be assumed. My 1999 had the yoke with the shield and my 1998 did not.Originally Posted by tssguy123

Question for the guys who have done their fuel injectors:
Is there a universal O-ring for the EV6 body? I picked up some Ford XF2E-C4B injectors from a Ford Whateverstar to swap in, and asked the dude at NAPA for O-rings for that application. They fit a little bit loose on the injectors. Now on my XJ, it was simple enough to get them into the fuel rail but I gave up trying to get them seated in the intake manifold. I'm afraid I might snap the injectors trying to get these in. Should I have asked for XJ O-rings? I don't remember the part number.
Am using engine oil for lubrication.

I used a light coat of vasoline both times I've done it.
I never bought new o-rings because the ones that I've got on the injectors have always been nice and new feeling.
It takes a little push to get em in there you might feel like its excessive but its probably not.

My 94 has the pinion yoke guard thing, my 98's does not. My 94's housing is beat to **** too lol

I changed the radiator on my 2001 xj 4.0 today and saw that the radiator in the front is hooked to the a/c system. Now the a/c doesn't work and planing on converting it to air. Could I use the radiator to cool the engine oil?

So id like some input on some possible things to check. 88 mj. Front ds running light and turn signal will not work. It also causes the blinker light to come on solid from time to time

Have you tried replacing the bulb? Could also be a short in the wire.Originally Posted by Jeepyjeepy

Try cleaning the contacts on the bulb socket. They may be corroded.Originally Posted by Jeepyjeepy
