Bummer. I checked inside real good and can't find any wet carpet or anything. No leaking on the outside on the ground.

Not looking forward to fixing this. Anyone want to by my Jeep?! Been seriously thinking about selling it anyway.

1999 4.0L xj automatic
Now my electrical system is messed up.
The gauge inside read 0 on the way home last night. my meter reads 12.4
When I start the jeep up it reads normal then once I drive it drops back down. I was at a fire after that happened and was playing music with just the acc. On for a few hours and it was fine it started right up but once I got home and shut it off it wouldn't turn back on (crank but very slow like a dead battery) but again my meter read 12.4...
I charged it all last night and drove this morning perfectly (minus the guage reading zero) then my radio started cutting out and the instrument panel went very dim (with headlights off too) now it won't start again but cranks slowly

Either bad alternator or grounds/main ground and with that year lets hope not but bad computer since thwarting computer regulates the voltage. Check you r battery cables, clamps and the actual copper itself

There's the one from the battery negative to the engine compartments t wall. Checkthe clamps but sounds like alternator needs to be hose down slightly and dried and hopefully it didn't get burned out going in the mud.

Sounds like alt. Clean the grounds and make sure your battery cables (both ends of each cable) are clean. It doesn't matter if the battery is at 12.4 if the terminals are dirty.

No just a hose.

And for the clamps and wire use a brass brush to clean those

What is the best factory type replacement horn? Mine are not working correctly. I have cleaned the ground and power contacts so I think the horn themselves are shot. They kind of work but not loud at all.

I bought the $20 low pitch one from the auto parts store, works awesome and it's plug and play

Mine did that but was full of road grime and mud. I took it apart and cleaned the hell out of it then beat it on the bumper while someone pressed the horn in and it finally started working right. Been good ever since but i moved both of them into the engine bay.

Default Rear brakes adjustment

So i had to brake hard on wet ice today, and man i suddenly got in a hurry turning the steering wheel. The Jeep was like bambi on ice. Need to adjust rear brakes immediately. I hope it is like on other cars with drums just to adjust through the hole in the inside of the spindle or what it is called. If its rusted i might need to take of the drum and everything in there, big hassle?

Adjust the rear brAkes too much will cause them to lock up fast. Braking on ice will always have the same result. And besides if you haven't done so anytime before, open the drums and inspect. Look for rusted or broken springs etc.
