11.22" on the tires is plenty wide. You should be fine with 8" rims up to 12.5" width tires

"XJ" is the Jeep two-letter designation for a family of vehicles produced 1983-2001. The owner's manual doesn't mention it, not sure if the Haynes does, either, but all factory service literature and many parts in your Jeep are stamped with this moniker. You'll see these thrown around a lot on here, so here's a bit of history for ya: http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Jeep_vehicles

Also since you're new here and own a Renix, make yourself familiar with this page: https://www.cherokeeforum.com/f51/cruiser54s-mostly-renix-tips-153657/

"Renix" is a shortened version of "Renault/Bendix" and actually refers to the engine management electronics, but there are other differences between the GM, Renix, and Chrysler years aside from the actual fuel system.
Junkyard is probably the best bet.

So a friend of mine is looking at buying a 1998 Cherokee with an auto. Is there anything we should look out for on the 98's?

Not a whole lot. Check for rust, hidden body/unibody damage, check fluids, drive it... Also aim for one with a chrysler 8.25 rear axle instead of a dana 35. The 8.25 axles housings have a flat bottom, where the d35 is rounded.

My jeep has a misfire on cylinder 3, 4, and 6. Heep is really getting on my nerves it was running fine last week. Also after changing the oil it has a clicking/tapping noise.

Can you feel the misfire or are you just getting the codes?

Thanks for the replies regarding my issue. And thanks also for the explanation and links regarding the XJ moniker.

So, is "throttle body linkage" the official (more or less) name of that part? I might be able to find it on CL or ebay etc, but I don't know what to call it exactly.

98 jeep cherokee sport 6 cylinder 4.0 liter. straight to the point, i turn on my car and only on start up, i after i get to a certain low mile per hour on my car to get up to speed it goes one speed and then starts to jerk forward and then you will hear a knock down by the gas pedal but from the inside of the hood of the car. then after pushing down the gas and hearing a couple knocks it goes to the correct speed and drives like normal or you just drive it at the low mph till it lets me drive at the correct mph. sorry but its annoying as ****. i don't know whats causing it, I've replaced my catalytic converter, distributor cap, and i don't know what else could be the problem. please give me help!!!!!!

It only misfires at low idle (around 700). Its fine at 1000 rpm but once it drops it idles pretty rough. Plus I'm getting codes for misfire in cylinder 3, 4, and 6

Pretty sure you just did spark plugs and wires right? What about cap and rotor? Double check all that is 100% tight. Did you use dielectric grease?

Cap, rotor and wires are good. I think it may be a timing problem. I'll take a look tomorrow

Will 2013 Wrangler wheels fit my 2000 XJ? I am looking for 16" rims to fit the Cherokee and found some of these cheap.

Arent those 17" wheels?

And they will only work if use adapters, the bolt pattern is different.

They are advertised as 16", but the lug pattern is a deal killer.
