That depends on your location. I can assure you it'll be far less than 4,000 if someone isn't trying to get over on you.

 

I think I already asked a similar question, but here we go.

I recently got my front wheel's bearings & u-joints changed, but when I'm driving and hitting a bump or anything that would make my car suddenly move, I get these weird noises / "clicking" under my feet. I'm pretty sure they all come from the front. While driving in a straight line and no bumps, everything is normal.

I disconnected the sway bars, so that was not the problem, when the jeep was lifted, I got a new track bar (although not adjustable) and I also have new lca's.

What are the possibilities here? When I check under the jeep everything seems normal, although I really have no clue what I'm looking for.

How much lift do you run? Sounds much like bump steer. Not sure what the clicking is. It clicks after the bumper?

 

What size lift are you on with a stock track bar? Unless some company makes a non adjustable one...

I was given some years ago to test with conventional oil. When I flushed my synthetic and added Bi-Tron to my oil it did improve but the difference was still not enough to meet synthetic standards. (wife told me to put synthetic back in cause she said it stalled easier at lower RPM)

NOw Im thinking of adding it to my synthetic but would like to hear some stories first. Wouldn't want to ruin a fresh batch of Amsoil Racing oil.

 

It's only 3" of lift. I'm not sure what track bar it is exactly, all I know is that it's not adjustable, and it's grey haha.

When I say "clicking" what I mean is like when you hit a rock while driving and it hits under the car and you can feel it with your feet. I don't know if that makes sense. While turning, sometimes while slowing down, going over a speed bump, hitting a pothole, etc.

 

I'd guess something is loose...

Have a friend turn the steering back and forth while you get under there and see what's moving that's not supposed to move.

 

sometimes, the control arms bolts aren't tight enough and they travel a little bit inside the hole making that click whenever they hit the other end of the hole. Ive had it during breaking, bumps or other suspension mvmts.

I crawled under and tighten up all control arms a little more and it went away

I'll check the control arms and look for anything else that shouldnt be moving.

 

Like Karl said, put a wrench/socket on everything and make sure it's tight. Takes less time that pondering what it might be, and usually with much better results.

 

Your mechanic sounds like he is trying to bend you over, id find a new mechanic

 

There is an app for your smart phone called repairpal, it is a decent reference as to how much parts and install cost in your area. It's not perfect but it is a good starting off point when looking for a mechanic. Or if you just want to see how much money you save from doing repair work yourself, other than engine swapping of course.

 

Erm, let me clarify. The dome lights would only work when I opened the doors. Still not with the switch.
