Hmmm. Something to think about. It will probably be changed more often on my 91 (wheeler) than my 99 DD. So I should run motor oil, 5w30 (on my DD)? Just seems odd, will it stay clean enough in there?

Now... a tcase cooler... that'd be cool. Anything we can add a cooler to. Diff cooler? That'd be even cooler. Lol

Big rigs have been using motor oil for years in their trannies.

if your diffs are hot enough to require auxiliary cooling you're doing it wrong.

Yes. With a pump. That's what some of the road racers do.

I can see use for this if you're pushing 38s+, fully locked and do alot of rock climbing.

Is the overflow bottle in these cooling systems pressurized?

I was joking actually. Doesn't surprise me that someone uses them though.

If you want. The transfer cases are ridiculously simple, no extreme sliding forces or extreme pressure gears. The only real challenge is heat, really, which vaporizes ATF and fluids break down conventional oils faster.

Aside from the breather they're sealed. The fluid won't get dirty with the exception of bits of metal from operation. That's why there's a tiny strainer on the oil pump pickup and magnet underneath it. Regular changes are sufficient.

Lol there was a thread on this in Modified Tech recently. It doesn't get hot enough to warrant a cooler.

Depends on the tranny. API MT-1 75w90 or 80w140 and CD-50 seem to be the mainstays for anything non-synchronized.

Yea I just did a sye, they are simple as hell in there. Once you get one apart it's like "that's all"

Another question (I'm just organizing some thoughts here)

Can I just take note of which wheel has what wieghts, remove them, buy some more (stick ons?) And put them back on?

I want to paint my Icons.

You'd have to note exactly where the previous weights were and assume that they were actually correct before you took them off. Simpler to go somewhere for a balance.

Yep. The balance machine tells you which side of the rim and where on the bead to place the weights.

Do S10 wheels have the same bolt pattern as our XJs? I just got a set off a buddy.
