Its goona be pretty high up could be roof rack bolts. A quick fix to keep water out is get some bearing grease smear it around suspected areas. That will keep water out till you can find and seal it properly

tha amp wire ran from the battery terminal end to the back seat, they gounded it under the pass. rear seat in the floor. from there to the amp but all fo that has been removed.

other then not starting wouldn't the starter of gave other notice it was going out like not catching at times when you'd try to start it?

Just asking because we had it going just fine after the computer was installed and amp wire unhooked it ran good for a week then dead again. And the first time it went dead, my husband was driving it home from work and it just cut off in midst of driving and it had to be jumped to get it home and then once home died and was totally dead.

Has anyone looked at the thing today or am I going to spend all day chatting it up?

Here, this just popped up just now. Someone praising Jesus because he finally figured out something that he should have looked at first... I don't understand how people over-look this stuff.

in ref to the link you posted:
we had the battery tested it was just a lil low so they charged it, batter was purchased new 2/12. when we had the jeep running when you took the blk wire off the truck stalled as we loosened the terminal, that is why we went with the alt.(our mechanic friend told us is the truck stalls when you take it off its the alt)

Do you not know a mechanically inclined friend?

A lawn mower mechanic would do.

Could just be a pissy connection to the alternator.
Have you checked all your grounds?

I didn't say it was bad starter. I said the connections on starter. However it it died and was running. I would say it most likely something with starter cylinoid. Loose wire, bad ground for starter cylinoid. You can turn key on and go wiggle Starter cylinoidn by battery, if you hear a relay click while wiggling wires/cylinoid then go turn key see if it will start. This is where I would think your problem is

I takes about 8 minutes to swap an idler pulley.

Remove belt, remove idler pulley bolt, replace idler pulley bolt with new idler and replace belt. Done.

As long as it stays together. Watch your gauges. If the power steering goes out goes out... stop and turn the Jeep off.

The jeep seems to run great and shift smooth and firm but when I'm driving down the road and the speed limit happens to be between 40-50mph it just seems to me that the transmission it over working its self shifting from 3rd to lock up 3rd.This is what it does......driving down the road I come up on 40mph and as soon as it hits 41mph the torque converter locks up but the problem is that if I'm not going over 50mph when I let off the gas it unlocks and goes back to "normal" 3rd then when I go to get back in to the gas if I barely press the pedal it stays in "normal" 3rd but when I press it just a bit more(maybe 1/8 the way) it shifts back to "lock up" again.Maybe its just me being new to the Cherokee or something but it seems to me that the trans is over working its self or something or maybe this is normal?

Things I have tried to do to "fix" it- changed the trans filter and fluid, put a new radiator in it cause it had a small leak anyways(thought maybe it was a bit clogged where the trans go into it causing a problem),adjusted the kick down cable just like the factory says to.New TPS.
So is it just me thinking something is wrong or is it just a "Jeep Thing"?
FWIW....mine locks up at exactly 45mph....if I have steep grade to climb (driving on pavement) I will pop the shifter into 3 and let it eat until I reach the top of the hill. I do this on the xpressway as well while hauling a trailer filled with camping gear. It relieves the transmission of 'hunting' which gear is correct for the speed and how much pedal you give it.
