ahahah thanks i have been tryin. nah i think DJ will have a sour spot where i am concerned for a while. LOL
I have two questions about my recently acquired 1999 4.0L XJ (5speed)
1. I've got a higher pitched noise coming from my right front wheel and it begins at ~20mph and increases in frequency as wheel rpm increases. It is not engine rpm dependent (shifted into neutral and no change in noise). I tried pumping the brakes while driving at ~30mph and did not hear a real change in the noise except from my new slower speed (lower frequency of the noise)
Initially, I thought wheel bearing so I jacked the front up and wiggled the wheel, pushed and pulled from all 360 degrees, and held the coil spring as I spun the wheel and I can feel no difference between my front wheels (first time trying to diagnose a wheel bearing though).
Any idea what it is could be? Both front wheels did not turn very easily and almost sounded like the brakes were rubbing while I turned, but I am unsure if that is normal.
2. I've got a slow leak (couple of drops per day) in the pictures below. It appears to be engine oil. Would this be leaking from the rear main seal? If not, how should I go about diagnosis? (new guy here, I was thinking it could also be from the valve cover?)

2. If i were you id replace the valve cover gasket with a "Fel Pro perma dry gasket" then make sure your oil filter adapter is not leaking oil. Then finally if those are dry id have to assume rear main seal.
1. You could have a caliper sticking and grinding on the rotor. Or wheel bearing ia my gueas.
