I can hear the pump come and the filter is maybe 6 months old. Would sitting for as long as it did mess up the filter?

3 quarters of a tank.
Theres a small rubber line on the pumo that goes to the "out" fuel line that can desintagrate. My wifes 88xj did it. I could crank and crank all day with very low pressure. Opened the tank up and found that hose was basicly a mushy rubber. If you jist replace the hose make sure to use approapriate fuel rated hose.

I put a box wrench on the bolt head side to where once I break the nut loose the axle will hold the wrench in place. For the nut, I put a 1/2" drive socket/ratchet on it with a 3ft metal tube over that for leverage. Even then I had a hard time. Make sure to use penetrating oil.
