what brand gears do i need for 4.56 or 4.10? 1998 cherokee atomatic. i think it has a chrysler 8 from what ive read but not sure... and should i change the fronts as well or is it not neccesary

There are a few companies that make replacement gears. Do a search.

If your rear differential cover is oval shaped and has a flat section on the bottom, you have a Chrysler 8.25. If not, you probably have a Dana35c.

You must change the front gears if you change the rears. The ratios need to to stay the same.

Also i don't know if you were planning on attempting it yourself, but it is something definitely better left to a professional with lots of gear swap experience. It's very easy to screw something up and requires specialized equipment.

i have a 1989 Jeep Cherokee Limited with the 4.0 and an auto.
if i tap the gas it falls on its face and sometimes stalls
i installed new cap rotor plugs and wires.
what could the problem be?

Which rear end does my 88 Cherokee have?
It came with the optional trailer towing package that included synthetic 75W140 rear end lube.
Is it a 35C or a 44?
The manual says its a heavy duty 8 7/8" ring gear with 3.55:1 ratio.

its prolly 8.5" and that'd deff be a 44.

no, the airbag light does (aka "SRS"). Completely independent system.
