A friend gave me a set of wheels for my 96 xj. I put them on and didn't notice until later that my originals were actually wider. I'm not concerned about it, except I think my tires may be a little too big for the more narrow rims. The new ones are 15 x 7 steelies, and my old ones were 15 x 8. I have 235/70/r15 tires on it. Anyone think there is a problem with this? I have no added lift and only intend to use these until I can sand/paint mine. I've been amazed how much knowledge there is on this forum, and you guys have already helped me overcome problems when I replaced shocks and steering dampener.
Thanks for the help.....

Couple of questions...
My muffler just started rattling. Sounds like a weld inside broke or something. Should I just go stock or is it worth it to go with something aftermarket?
Whenever I shut my Jeep off, I sometimes hear some like gurgling from the rear, kinda sounds like the gas tank isn't vented well or something. Ideas?
Lastly... My breaks are kinda squealing and grabbing a bit. I did front pads and I really need to turn the rotors, but didn't have another car or the time. I'm pretty sure one rotor is warped a bit. I also think I need to do the rear brakes, and I think they're the primary source of my problem. Any opinions on if the front rotors are contributing to my issues? Or is it just that my rear brakes are shot?

The HD leafs won't last any longer that the standard leafs.....about 10 years before they again begin to sag. The advantage to the HD leafs is you can ditch the rear sway bar and get better articulation. I just purchased a standard spring for $200 ea. The HD spring is about $250. I have standard on the 89 and experience bad wheel hop. I have HD on the 88 (with no sway bar) and no wheel hop. Go HD or stay home!

If you have a NP 242 transfer case (with the 4wd full time position) you can drive on every pavement. If you have the NP 231 (with the part time 4wd) you can drive on slippery surfaces only, that means if your way to work is all covered with snow you can, if not then you can't.

i need help figuring out if 32 X 11.50 tires will fit stock 96 stock steel cherokee wheels, or if anyone has a lead one some 32 X 10.50 r15 thanks
My 95 XJ 4.0 Auto won't crank. I drove it about 20 miles, parked it for about an hour, came back and now it won't crank. It will turn over, and sounds like its fires up, and then just doesn't catch. Anyone with any ideas, please help. Its sitting on the side of the road and I really need to get it home.

i have a parts cherokee (1990 wagoneer) and my DD (1988 xj) the 1990 front axle is not vacuum operated to engage into 4x4 and mine is, i was wondering if i could just swap them out if the gear ratio is the same or is it not as simple at that? i believe the only way the other is engaged is by the transfer case and not an air motor. therefore its always engaged? any input would help a lot. thanks guys

How does one go about converting one to the other? I have the part time 4wd, but REALLY want the one with full time. It it as simple as swapping transfer cases or is it a major deal?
