heres the pics of what i ripped a little and what was holding the pan in place or rather giving resistance. sorry been gone all day long so got nothing done today. you can see on the close up the bottom of it is torn. it feels like just a little foam gasket probably just to keep oil from leaking into the bell housing im assuming.

i just finished my long pain in the a$$ project of a rc 4.5 lift on a 96 xj. i test drove it for the first time tonight and found a MAJOR problem. or so i think it is. the stearing wheel, is no longer straight but almost a 1/4 turn to the right. and i have about a 1/2 turn worth of play in it now.
has any one ever used those PS2 stearing wheels? where you turn it about a 1/4 turn and it does nothing and like 1/8 of a turn more and its full turn radius?.. its almost like that.
would anyone know how to fix this?

I wonder if It would be better if I get the free trans and get a different transfer case... or would it be better to just get the correct trans?
For all i Know the transfer case could be bad as of right now.
I have a seller with a AW4 witha NP-231 with a SYE installed..he is asking 350.00 ( out of a 1995)
Could i swap out both my Trans and Transfer case? or would I run into more work than its worth?

Ah Ok.. Well I def need a Transfer case.. I was told it was the Trans but I'll post a picture up soon, there is like a 4inch by 4 inch hole in the side of the transfer case.
The Trans might still be good actually.. I may just swap them both out.
Id like to upgrade them but I do not know enough to do so, I'll prolly stick with what belongs there...

I have a homemade "CAI" and 19# mustang injectors (the orange kind) and I have a noticeable power differance. I don't know exactly how much of a HP difference it made but I can feel the difference.

Did you put the pitman arm the exact same way you took it off? Sounds to me like you put it on 1/4 turn wrong. There's 4 master splines on the pitman arm and on the steering box shaft, So it's easy to get it off by a 1/4.

Hey guys,
Im new to the XJ world, I have a TJ and JK.
I picked up a 89 XJ with the Aw4 Trans.
I know the trans is busted due to the fact of its literally cracked..
Anyway, I'm looking to find a replacement, can someone point out if I have to find a specific year or something special or will any AW4 trans work?
Kinda of a dumb question but rather appear dumb than blow $$$..
