It's a bit different but it has a lot of the same components: Axles, motor (the 4.0 at elast), Tranny (I believe) T-case (NP242) and a couple other pieces. They're a bit bigger and more comfy. They ride a bit nicer. You can get strip model versions of the Laredo trim that don't have very many options. The 5.2 powered Jeeps tend to have more transmission issues. One distinct advantage for these Jeeps is that they have coil springs in the back as well.

The tie rod and pit arms have the threaded peice on each end. Those are smashed and stripped at the tip...

There are a lot more aftermarket parts for Cherokees than grand Cherokees. A Cherokee limited is just as nice as a grand Cherokee the grand Cherokee is a little bigger, I think Cherokees look better.

If it's just the tip you can try and rethread it yourself or take it to a local machine shop. I rented a puller kit from Advance Auto. They return deposit when you bring it back. Useful for reconnecting it.

It's called a ghetto repair. Take the little blue wire sticking out of the loom and reconnect it. If that don't work you might have a broken wire between the door and body

If the re leafs are already broken in, and you have removed all the bolts on your leafs recently id swap them. Rc leafs are junk so it may be worth the swap. Plus you can sell them
