Yesterday I filled up, drove almost 100 miles, and filled back up. 3.990 gallons of gas used.
23.85 mpg by odometer reading (95.2 miles)
24.25 mpg by GPS reading (96.7 miles)

Stock tire size P225/75R15

I put a full can of Royal Purple fuel system cleaner in the tank. Filled up with 85 octane at Chevron. Did some fairly hard acceleration runs, with 75% of this on the interstate, and twenty minutes of idling. Gained about 1500 feet in elevation. So I had 25 mpg in the bag!

Regarding that throttle body spacer install, the whistle as mentioned was only there if I wicked the throttle a bit from idle. Can't hear it while driving. Absolutely no change after 4 days of driving and two tanks of gas. Took it off. Had to try it. Doesn't work.

True but now you have the drag of pumping air through the engine slowing you down which isnt helping mileage.

This will work to a point. If you have to floor it to get enough power to make it up the hill because you dont have the mechanical advantage of a lower gear your gonna use more gas.

I don't necessarily drive like grandma. I still managed over 20 mpg after factoring in roughly 11 0-90 pulls. I don't think these things are as bad as everyone makes them out to be. it appears that the engine management system is very sensitive, so if your **** isn't up to snuff your mileage suffers. this suffering is exponential with big tires.

The point of pumping air through the engine is to engine brake. That was covered a while back in this thread.

With those numbers, I have a 2" lift on. I just put Goodyear Wrangler Silent Armor 31x10.50R15s on last night. I'll re-evaluate fuel mileage before too long. I might order the correct speedo/odometer gear, too, but the GPS is fairly accurate.

Engine braking hurts MPG though. I would think you'd be better off just coasting as far as you ca go.

Engine braking does NOT hurt MPG because fuel shuts off to the cylinders when the engine is above 1500 RPM and the throttle is closed. That was the point of the original argument. It's better and more fuel efficient to keep it in fourth or fifth gear when going down a hill and letting the engine brake the vehicle to its own maintained speed rather than pushing in the clutch and using the brakes.

I've got around 250 miles on this tank and am a little under a quarter tank with mostly city driving. 31s, AW4, and 3.55s. I'm happy with it
