Wouldnt the actuall milage be better? With larger tires your goin further than your odometer is saying.

Yeah if you have bigger tires your going farther than the odometer says. Not less. For me I have 245s and according to my gps my odometer is about 50 miles off when I hit 210 miles on it.

4.0, auto tranny, 3.55s, 31s, and a thor cowl intake gets me about 15.8 highway, of course, it could probably be a little better if I didn't enjoy listening to the intake so much. I calculated this based off how much gas went in/was used and how many miles I drove according to google, not my odometer.

Updated mileage..... Changed to the 703 injectors last week and realized a 1.5ish (on the plus side) increase from 14ish to almost 16 in town.

Updated info:
98 XJ 4x4 4.0, AW4, 235x75x15 street tread, 136k miles.
The last 2 tanks got 19.2 MPG mixed driving. Took a road trip Friday, 362 miles, average 70 MPH, ran a large can of Chevron Techron cleaner through it, got 21.5 MPG. I haven't done any tuning on this one. I may be able to tweak even more out of it. All results with non-ethanol fuel. I haven't noticed any difference between 87, 89, or 91 octane, with regards to performance or fuel economy.

I'm trying to talk myself out of lifting this one, because I don't want to lose fuel economy or road manners.

I just got new brakes that don't drag so my 89 Renix now gets around 18mpg mixed city and hwy. It's got 31s, 2.5" lift, AW4, 3.55 gears, 270-some thousand miles and an NP242. I have gotten 25mpg+ multiple times, but those were on long, flat trips with no wind.
