It dies like the key was turned off. No sputtering, no backfiring, i cant even usually tell until i realize the power steering isnt working anymore. Just shutss off. It starts back up every time. It dies completely at random. Ive not taken it up to highway speeds while ive owned it because of this issue. Scary thought to lose all power on the highway.

It is possible. Dont know if you saw my engine sludge pics. Im worried i also heard an odd engine noise when i started the jeep up after stalling yesterday. Wasnt a pinging but perhaps valve noise. Like something might have been loose in the engine. But yeah it had a bad oil leak when i got it. I lost 2 quarts in about an hour after cleaning the sludge out. Fixed the leak but oil was on everything. Ill try the plugs and wires. Cruiser wanted me to do them anyhow way back when and ive already got em. If thats not it ill try a map sensor. Just about the only sensor i havent replaced at this point i think. And we shall go from there.

Good morning to you too. And really i just immagined that it would make some kind of bad sounds or sputter a bit if one of the plugs wasnt firing due to crud on the wire. Really wish odgreen would pay me a visit. =P

You always start with basics complete tune up 1st off then go deeper. Listen to cruiser he taught odgreen every thing he knows shown me a thing or three also. We all learn from each other ...

Ok got all new plugs, wires, cap, rotor. Was a pain to get the rotor. The one that is for my year didnt fit so i had to pull the one out and scrape off a layer of crap to find the part number.
All of the old plugs had an orange layer of dust on them and they were all gapped about twice as wide as the manual calls for. The engine runs quieter now was the first thing i noticed. But it also seems like the idle might be low. I started it up and it stalled out on me right away. Started it back up and it started chugging and i gave it a little gas it was fine from there. I did not test drive it enough to see if the symptom of it stalling after i park it from a drive then come out after 10-15 mins and drive home. But i will report back on that. I found out one of my shocks is missing so im going to go ahead and replace the front 2.
Starting to run out of funds again. Down to 170 but hat should eb enough for rotors, braided steel brake lines, floor shifter from the junk yard, and the alternator bracket i still need. On a more positive note the manager at autozone was chatting with me while i was working on the jeep in the parking lot and he seems interested in hiring me. =) More money and discounts on parts hopefully!

The plug gap get's bigger each time it fires. Thankfully not much though. You can always test that new CPS in a minute or two with a $5 meter from Harbor Freight.
