Default 94 5.2 dormant 3? years. Ran, wont restart, fuel issue suspect...

Took another look at that 94 Grand Cherokee. It was rode hard, and put away wet many times. Very clean interior, very doordinged exterior. Frame and floors are good, rockers need some help...
I took it for a spin, and it ran just fine. I was on my way to the shop to put it on a lift and check it out more... I shut it off, waited half an hour, and when I went to restart, it would not do more then (roughly) idle... Giving it more throttle resulted it it stalling... Restarted after waiting a while, and feeding it fuel down the tb, it stayed running fine.I Kept it alive for about a min, flooded it, and it restarted (same idle, died if throttle applied)...

If I pour fuel down the Throttle Body, it will run, and stay running. It has a new (like 1k miles before parked) fuel pump and filter, and I hear the pump working...

I put 5 gallons of fresh fuel into it (thinking bad sending unit), and no change. It was indicating half a tank, now it indicates about 3/4
I suspect the fuel tank has debris in it from sitting, and the filters clogged...
I see the one filter on the end of the tank, nothing on the lines...

Can anyone help?

It sounds like the small rubber hose connecting the pump to the hard line inside the tank. It's either loose or rotten. JMO

Edit: The ZJ in-tank module has no hoses. Sorry for bad info.

After looking at the manual it appears my above statement regarding the rubber hose in the tank doesn't apply on the ZJ. It shows the complete pump module with no internal hoses.
I think sitting has caused bad gas and crap in the tank. I'd drop the tank and clean it out. The pump may be shot as well now. If so, now would be a good time to replace it as it goes in from the top. Then disconnect the fuel lines (supply and return) at both ends and blow them out. And replace the fuel filter. JMO*
If you don't have a manual I can send you scans of the info in my manual via PM if needed.

Did you add a can of Sta-Bil to the gas?

I'd be very leary of running a vehicle on 2 year old gas to begin with.

No need to condemn the pump untill you've done a fuel pressure test and gotten rid of the old gas.

Sta-Bil for old gas, Seafoam to clean the fuel system after you get rig of the old gas.
