The 99-01 starters seem to be way over priced.. I cant get one for my 2000 under 125.00 where I live.. I can get a starter for the 95 at around 60 bucks..

Yes that is, within a 50 mile radius from where I live we have about 9 Advance Auto parts stores, 6 Auto zones, 7 Orileys, and 6 Napas that I can think of, and I don't even live close to a big city.

 

It's all a question of how much folks in a particular area shop at auto parts retailers. Wealthier areas tend to have less parts stores since wealthier folks drive newer vehicles and don't tend to do their own repairs/maintenance.

I know that years and years ago when I worked at AutoZone, they used the customer Zip codes (when filling out warranty info or returning used oil) to determine where the business was coming from.
I have to think that the political climate is a factor as well. Auto parts retailers have thin margins and places like CA that have heavy tax burdens and high wage/benefit minimums are much harder to operate in.

 

That's probably true, here in Appalachia we aren't known for our wealth, especially since they started shutting down the Coal mining industry.

 

Just put this starter in my 99... Shipped fast and went in smooth. No issues so far. for the price and it being new I dont think it can be beat.
