The 99-01 starters seem to be way over priced.. I cant get one for my 2000 under 125.00 where I live.. I can get a starter for the 95 at around 60 bucks..

It's all a question of how much folks in a particular area shop at auto parts retailers. Wealthier areas tend to have less parts stores since wealthier folks drive newer vehicles and don't tend to do their own repairs/maintenance.
I know that years and years ago when I worked at AutoZone, they used the customer Zip codes (when filling out warranty info or returning used oil) to determine where the business was coming from.
I have to think that the political climate is a factor as well. Auto parts retailers have thin margins and places like CA that have heavy tax burdens and high wage/benefit minimums are much harder to operate in.

That's probably true, here in Appalachia we aren't known for our wealth, especially since they started shutting down the Coal mining industry.
