Default Starters ?

My starter is going bad I heard that you can use a older starter in a 2001 xj , It's fits if you change some wiring at the starter and is there a year starter that is stronger then the others ? Any help is appreciated .

My starter is not oil soaked , it clean and dry . I was just wondering if there was a better starter for our XJ's . and what starters you are using ? I don't want to buy a starter that I will have problems with . I would like to buy a new starter not a rebuild unless the rebuild is better than some of the new ones .

Stock replacement will work just fine, new or rebuilt is a personal thing....just make sure you get a good replacement warranty.

But local. That way if there is an issue you're covered right away.

If you have an Advance Auto you can get 15-20% off when you order online and pick it up in store. Then you can still warranty it locally. I am all for buying parts online to save money but there are certain things I buy from local chain stores so I can warranty them quickly even if I am out of town. Starters, alternators, Brakes, and U-joints are a few of the items I only get locally.

If its your daily driver and only car i would buy it locally,Like said if you have to warranty it locally its same day.Do it online you have to send yours back once they get they ship you a new one. This can take up to a week sometimes to get your new part.

That doesn't surprise me, they are probably not allowed in California.
