I have a 2005 Grand Cherokee. It has 40K miles on it. The dealer has replaced the starter 5 times and the grounding straps 2 times. At 31k miles the jeep would not start. Turn it to start, no click or anything. Dealer replaced the starter motor. At 33k miles it did the same thing. Dealer replaced the grounding strap and starter. 33.5k miles same thing again. Took to different jeep dealer they replaced the starter. Went good until 39K miles. Dealer replaced ground strap again and starter again. I replaced the battery at 39K. Connections are clean and tight and have been since the beginning. Yesterday i woke up won't start. Towed to the dealer, saying it needs a starter again. WTF clearly something is damaging the starter/starter solenoid (they claim its one part) The dealer just shrugs their shoulder and says we don't know. Alternator checks ok. It does it irreguardless of environment. Battery is good. Connections are good. Thoughts??

Did you ever find out what was causing your starter problem? I just purchased a 2005 JGC v8.

Welcome to CF. This thread was started in '09 and the original poster never posted again. If I were them after more than 3 times with the same problem I would have demanded a new vehicle under the Lemon Law.
