Hello all … I’m having an issue the I have no brake lights I replace the brake light switch thinking it would fix the issue … all the lights work besides the brake I check all the fuses and are good and the rake light switch has power going in and out .
I assume you checked the bulbs. Are you seeing voltage at the bulbs when the brake is pressed? Is there a good ground at the bulbs? If you're seeing voltage that disappears as soon as you connect the bulb, I would suspect a poor connection somewhere. There have been a few posts and pictures of the wiring in the passenger side wheel wheel area, showing that as a common corrosion and wiring area.
see if you got power at the bulb holder or not, measure from center socket contact to outer socket contact, with brake pedal depressed. if no power read, the read from center contact to a good clean body ground, if that shows power, then suspect your ground at socket is at fault brake light ground wire is a ring terminal connected below rear driverside quarter panel trim, behind where spare tire is stowed. that ground point also is for the tail lamps and back em up lights, if those lights are working, then that ground ring terminal is not the problem.
I check all the ground on the driver side rear part of the dash and they are good also the trailer cables are there for the trailer … all my lights work besides brakes and the bulbs are good because I sent power trough the 3rd brake light and they turn on

Do trailer brake lamps work?
Also your cherokee I think has two brake pedal switches, one for the stop lights, other for the cruise control. Make sure the correct switch is adjusted properly.
If you got a volt meter, start probing for voltage when brake pressed, start at switch, (wiggle the switch, its connectors and wires to see if voltage fluctuates). If no volts, then assure switch is getting voltage. . If good constant voltage is found, then move to fuse, check both sides, check any easy to get to connection as you work your way back to the center pin of the bulb socket. If no volt meter, use a 12 volt light bulb in a socket with a couple feet of wire on each end and use to as a volt meter, bulb will glow bright when you got 12 volts, dim at 6 volts, and hardly glows at all at much lower volts.
If the 3rd brake light works, and the regular brake lights don't, I would be checking the bulbs in the taillamps.
Am I missing something?
He said he sent power thru the 3rd brake light and they turned on. I guess that all three turned on when he powered the circuit via the third brake light, yet the brake switch does not operate any of the brake lights. But that is how I read it, awaiting clarification.
Yes I sent power trough the 3rd brake light and they all worked … I’m getting power out of the brake light switch when. I step on it I also swap out the brake switch … I’m going to check my grounds again and if not I’m going to run a cable from the switch all the way to the back and see if the fixes my issue
Reporting back I look trough my wires where my foot goes and found out some wires chew up and the tab and white wire is cut so there’s the issue thanks guys
